Do your DC's spend a lot of time playing with your dog/puppy?

We have 3 DC and was wondering whether it will mean they spend all of their spare time playing with our dog/puppy when we get it?

Sometimes. At first they were all about her but after four weeks they've cooled off and only play with her when she comes to them and they can be bothered. They are 3 and 1.

Sometimes I would prefer a trampoline. A trampoline can't trip you up by getting under your feet or sleep on your shoulder.

Mine did, all the time when he was tiny. He's 5 months now and a bit "jumpy-uppy" at the moment, and has turned into an ankle-nipper so they are not so keen! He is having trouble teething I think but we are doing puppy classes so hopefully his over-excitedness will be a phase Smile In between the torrential rain showers, DS1 loves playing ball with him in the garden.

revolution - surely not?! A trampoline cannot greet you like a long lost best friend every time you come home, nor can it slump its head on your lap for a cuddle. Puppy wins hands down for us Smile

Our trampoline was the best money ever spent! We bought it 4 years ago and they still play on it for hours at every opportunity

Boating The puppy definitely wins here too but there comes a point in the day where I'm tired of cleaning pee and being tripped up :o. She's the best little thing and will be the best big thing too!

We got a 3 year old rescue dog and my children love to play ball in the field. However, with my older children, in particular my 13 year old DD, its not about playing madly but about the dog's ability to just be there either lying next to her in companionable silence, or being talked to about anything she fancies talking about. The dog will listen to her every word without any contradiction perfect for surviving teenage troubles. The dog always greets her like a best friend and doesn't care about messy bedrooms, homework, what she wears etc. She is now composing a song about how much she loves the dog.

We had a Labrador when i was about 9.
I don't recall playing with her much indoors after the novelty had worn off, but my god we spent hours and hours running around the garden playing games with her! Or going to the park. Although we did have about 1.5 acres of garden so we were very lucky!Grin

asmuchasapeasbrain - that sounds great. Our dd is a teen, I'm sure they will have much to 'discuss'!

DS (15) spends hours winding the dog up playing with ours. But that could be because it's preferable to revising for his GCSEs.
