5 month old ?Staffy x ? puppy. Initially perfect - slept through from 7 weeks. Toilet training seemed to go well at first, then we moved house, unsettled, etc.

Now, he will wake up, we offer him outside, he goes outside, comes back in and pees on the floor Hmm. He can be outside for 30mins/1hr with our other dog, quite happy, but will come back inside and crouch for a poo.

How do we change this?? I bought a pee post (pheremone thingamy) but he's completely disinterested in it. He seems to know that he shouldn't be doing it, because despite me giving no reaction (as I'd read on here to do) and simply clearing it away, he sits and looks at it with his head down as I approach it.

At the moment him being outside for that amount of time, he is playing, not thinking about needing a wee. What we did with ours was we would go out with her, but stand back and do not offer attention or 'play' and when she squatted, say 'wee wee' (or another word of your choice) and give a little treat (or clicker and treat if you are taking that approach) EVERY SINGLE TIME....dont just leave him out there and let him get on with it..... (we made this mistake with another puppy we had a few years ago!!) Our dog now, when we let her out, as soon as i say 'wee wees' she goes....in the garden or when we are out in the field or anything.

The other thing (as well as what Angel says) is, mop up the mistake with a cloth and take that outside. Let the pup sniff it outside, where you want it and praise. Make sure the spot inside is thoroughly cleaned and use anti-odour spray or solution.

Leave a smelly cloth out, then pup will hopefully get the message that's a good place for it.

Our pup is 5 months old and he'll do the same - if he's in the garden he just wants to play. If it's last thing at night/first thing in the morning and I just want him to wee, I put him on a flexi-lead and take him to where he likes to wee. He soon learnt that being on the lead means it's wee time!
