I have frontlined our pup twice in four weeks.

Sprayed the whole house, nook and cranny, soft furnishings, high temp washed all her bedding, and she's still scratching.

I used stay kill plus house spray.

She's only four and a half months old and a cocker spaniel so not especially thick or long fur.

Any advice?? Please !!!!

Is she definitely scratching because of fleas? Check behind her ears - can you see any fleas? Do you ever get foxes in the garden as she might have picked up fox mange from the grass (look for little bald patches on face and elbows). Could it be a skin problem due to an allergy?

I use avocate spot on from the vet - sorts everything, fleas, mange, worms, lice etc

It may not be fleas in pups of this age it is not uncommon to have the walking dandruff mite I would suggest getting a vet check for this.
Have just been shown though amazing new product which mobile mop will be wearing as soon as it arrives - Seresato collar 8 months of flea killing and tick repelling in one collar, amazing new technology, no nasty organophosphates. My practice will be recommending it and the price blows all over the counter products out of the market.

I think I'm going to take her to the vets just to check. Tbh, I haven't seen any on her but I've seen a few in the house. She's black and hard to tell really.

But she did go for a little trim and wash last week at the groomers and she said she saw some. I was deeply embarrassed!

don't be embarrased, dogs get fleas, i used to tell clients that anyone who says their dogs have not ever had fleas are deluded or liars Grin

Things have moved on since i worked at the vets but frontline was the flea killer of choice at the time. Are you using frontline or frontline combo (you can only buy the combo from the vets) as the combo is the only one to kill the fleas in the environment.

Defo get her checked over though, it could be mange (although you tend to notice hair loss with this) or ear mites (but they tend to shake their heads) or a general allergy - if she is allergic to flea bites then one bite will be enough to illicit an allergic response that will be present after the flea has jumped off so hopefully if you are rid of the fleas it will settle down.

Good luck with it - did you boil wash the bedding? flea eggs can survive up to really high temps! Also, get a steam iron to matresses and soft furnishings if you can as that gets rid of the larvae and eggs.
