We are getting a female dog in 2 weeks and need a name for her. The name she has now is too awful to keep (I won't say it as it might out me)

In our family we have a Stella, Piper, Ash, Ember, Cass, Soux, and lots of current girls names like Millie, Lucy, Roxi etc (I have no part in their names!)

I think it depends on the dog though, breed and nature.

I used to know a girl with 2 chuiwawas (sp), both bitches called Shed and Dave. Once I got past the Hmm I thought they were quite good names, when you would expect them to be called fluffy or tinkerbell etc!

Is she a rescue? If so it might be easier to keep the name similar in sound to her current name and slowly change it. My aunt had to do that with a big butch dog they took in called Bambi! He wasn't a Bambi Grin. They changed it to Bandy, as in Bandit so the dog recognised it but it wasn't so camp!

Rita. I misheard when I got her - her previous name was Zita. She is a Blue Staffie x and has a bright pink collar and lead. She briefly went missing (neighbour had her) and the woman at the dog protection hotline said 'she sounds quite destinctive, if we get her we will know she's yours!'
