A dinky little greyhound, with the worst fur you'll ever see and a baldy scaly bottom who really is trying to figure out what in the world's going on happening to her - but she's here! (and since I tend to work on the assumption that greyhounds are like that expandy DIY foam and expand to fill the available space to splat out and she's on full splat-extension now - she must be doing ok with it all)

She does NOT like getting into the car - that's currently a 2 person operation (which means it'll be fun doing THAT on a weekday when I'm on my own). Likes it when she's IN the car though!

Now the shopping begins - I need to find a coat for her and a nice matching/co-ordinating fancy collar/house collar set!

Recommendations for good shops for this or nice shiny fashion statements for a black girlie with a slightly greying muzzle who's about a good inch or two smaller than your average girl greyhound.

She's got a backside like a baboon's butt still at the moment cos she's pretty much come straight from the trainer (poor gal did 109 races!) and ain't half got some war wounds on her - I'm half expecting to get the RSPCA called for the state of her when I'm out walking!

What a gorgeous hound! And your other dog is cute too.

She's home! At last. Me, DH and all three of our grunds are doing metaphorical cartwheels and shaking those pom pom things at you. Huzzah!

Now for Scuttle's famous Pimp my Hound routine.

The excellent around the hounds have been mentioned. Try also "2 Hounds Design" for quality collar porn. There's also Silver Peacock for collars. For coats, lots of the greyhound charities do them, or try AK Creations - we've used them and they are good. We've also bought coats from here - in the USA, but a rescue, and the coats are a fabulous quality.

Yeah we were going to pick up coats via the kennels but they've got their shop packed away at the moment which is more than a bit annoying (just my luck lol)!

Love the idea of collar porn! Agree with Scuttlebutter about a lot of greyhound rescues selling coats etc

Yes. Coats - you need a winter warm coat, and a lightweight rain coat. Plus a house coat for cold winter nights. And a lot of people have a nice fleece coat for cold, dry days.

Then there's collars. Have we talked about seasonal collars? Blush And of course, they come with gorgeous matching velvet leads...

You will end up walking with your grund smartly turned out in a head turning ensemble while their human companions look comparatively, um, rustic... Grin

Only one of ours has the housecoat, and that is because she is an elderly lady with arthritis, and it's important she keeps warm. She usually hops on the bed too if she really wants a nice warm snuggle. Quite often will wake up on a cold winter morning, and feel whiskers tickling me and think "Hmmm, don't remember DH's breath smelling like that" Grin

The other two don't wear a housecoat though we have one for emergencies (e.g. power cuts, blizzards etc, and you can layer them under their main coats).

We don't have a fleece coat for cold dry days but that's because we haven't got round to it, mainly cos AK was off on maternity leave earlier this year. Def need two coats though - lightweight shower/wind proof one plus one with fleece lining for cold winter days.

Ours are complete wusses about rain and cold, though to be fair there's no fat on a grund, the fur is fine to non existent (bald rumps and bellies) and nobody can shiver convincingly like a grund, while giving you the saddest, most pitiful stare with enormous brown eyes.

Whippy doesn't need a housecoat, she has her own oil filled radiator for when it gets really chilly Blush

Looking at possibly those AK combo coats (I want one that covers her bum cos it can't be warm having a bald arse and it's distinctly not a good fashion look) - can just see her in a nice pinky purple (or green or red when hubby complains pink's a girlie colour) combo!

She's proceeded to commandeer the most hideously inappropriately small bed for herself (despite various splatted-hound suitable ones being made available she's nicked Layton's one he really doesn't like) and squished herself into it to curl up like a cat most of the night... apart from when she failed somewhat and had her head lying on the kitchen floor with her bum in the bed and legs sticking up in the air for a good couple of hours.

Haven't heard a peep out of her all night really - got up early to let her out for a piddle and got licked to within an inch of my life with a side order of nose prodded crotch. She can hear the cat miaowing through the glass door into the hall and stairs and really isn't at all bothered about that at all - haven't introduced them yet but since she tried to lick the cat testing cat (she licks EVERYTHING - poor Layton got an ear licked as he walked by last night) it should hopefully go ok or be workable on.
