As an intermittently blazing summer fizzles out and the leaves fade to brown, who better to mark the changing season than Bill Oddie, Kate Humble and Simon King? The excitable nature-watchers are more used to tracking and televising the onset of spring, but this new departure should be every bit as enjoyable. It's in the nature of the programme (so to speak) that much of what we see will be unrehearsed, unpredictable and often live. But we're promised dramatic spectacles ranging from red deer stags fighting for supremacy in a Scottish glen to the birth of grey seal pups on weather-beaten islands. We'll also be kept up to date on individually tagged geese completing their epic migration from Canada to their wintering ground in Northern Ireland. Plus, as they say, much, much more. Oddie will hold it all together with his uniquely shambolic charm, Humble will smile for Britain and poor old King will be huddled on a windswept hillside somewhere whispering to the camera. It should be a treat.

Also loved watching cbeebies autumn watch today with dd.

I love the new autumn song but who is the dancing man in it? He is SO serious. I'm assuming he is a well known person in popular culture that I have never heard of?

I set the tv to change channel for it on cbeebies but then the phone wouldn't stop ringing and so I missed it

but was watching tonight very with the baby seal

but I guess that is nature isn't it

Oh no whats happened to the seal pup? DD1 and 2 Loved spring watch and are loving autumn watch. Such a great program. DS1 likes it too but he won't admit it (he is 8 ) another catchy tune as well

Seal pup only hours old and still not suckled yet. Tonight we saw it trying to nuzzle up to it's mum and the mum shoved it away. It then tried to nuzzle up to another mum and was shoved away from there too - heart rending stuff. It's poor wee face looked so sad and confused, I almost started crying

dd and i really enjoyed it today...specially with Sir David in the hide.
Bill Oddy kinda annoys me when he's on the adult version (think he gets on that Kates tits too!)...but i really like him with Jelly on cbeebies.

Am getting a little fed up with the autumn song on cbeebies now... please change it next week! I am waking up in the middle of the night singing the tune in my head!

But still loving both on BBC and cbeebies! cant wait to see more seal action tomorrow.
