The new series of Extras

I can't see any threads about the new Extra's series and was wondering what people thought of it? I really wanted to love it but it's falling just a bit short of the mark for me so far. What do you think - better or worse than series one??

we forgot to watch the first one - have we missed keith chegwin? thought david bowie's 'little fat man' song was v funny.
haven't seen anything as funny as kate winslet doing phone sex, or saying she wants tp play a 'mental'!!! we rofl at that one...

I'm pretty sure that it was Keith Chegwin in the first one (as was Orlando Bloom) but I get a bit mixed up between some of the ageing TV stars
Some moments (like Bowie's song as you say) are funny but other gags seem to be carried just one quip too far (like the TV review/frog picture mix up, in the pub scene with the agent) which takes the edge off it for me.

I think they're pushing it to an area that is just beyond comedy - where you're not laughing you're wincing with the pain of it. I think this makes it a harder watch but it's still the work of a genius....in my opinion.

I couldn't stop laughing when Bowie was singing that song, and everyone was laughing and pointing at Andy, while he just sat there looking pained.

The Bowie episode is a comedy classic extraordinaire - fantastic stuff, even better than the first series!

Thanks Molesworth - am new'ish to MN so there's a few things that pass me by still (like how to spell check!).
I loved The Office and enjoy Extras but whatever people think I reckon most must agree that Ricky Gervais does the best cringeworthy moments ever.

I agree with welshmum- I think it's fantastically good but is just too painful at the moment to be funny. I thought the Keith Chegwin bits were v. amusing, but the David Bowie song was just too painful for words. This week's looks as though it might be a bit more like the last series, maybe, with the Harry Potter bloke.

I'm afraid I am just not enjoying this series of Extras. As with the Office, the second series is just too cringeworthy, and I find myself wincing at some parts. My faves last series were Kate Winslett and Ross Kemp.

really enjoyed the keith chegwin show, but thought last week's was flat. agree that the david bowie bit was shite.
