started watching, i think co-sleeping is ok but wasn't sure if i heard right when the bloke from up north said they have sex when the baby is in the bed asleep as for the not wearing nappies I saw this on the baby channel last year one mum had her baby on and said you could tell from the body language when they needed to go (good for the eco system i suppose)

beg your pardon to the guy up north mis-heard him, however if they think their kids will turn out happy then good for them, me personally I wouldn't want to be carrying my dd around in a sling when she is 4yrs old (they say breasts are there to feed the children well legs were made for walking!)

So far (and I missed the first 1/4 hour) it seems a lot more resonable than i thought it would be. The commentary seems to be trying to make them out to be a bit freakish but the mums seem reasonably normal.

I am watching with awe 24/7 parenting with no nappies etc i would be going insane. My baby would spend a lot of time washing and drying clothes with me in the kitchen.
I could not do without a pushchair as still have back problems and to do without a carseat would be insane although i guess that would depend whrer you lived.

I know a lady who does EC with her child. She is 3 now and has never worn a nappy. She was able to tell from her body language when she had to go. Also she is still BF, they co-sleep, she and her partner have sex in the same bed. To her it is natural, she sees it as normal, and it is, to her and her family. Live and let live I say But I would never carry my 4yr old..it would kill me!!

have to say dd does the shiver movement when she poops so I always know she's done but we do baby signing and she lets me know if i don't see it. Have to say that woman with the daughter well I think she must have a separation anxiety issue more than the little girl but the father said what i was thinking that if they carry on as they are she may get a shock when she gets into the real world

It would be very interesting to see a follow up in 15 years time when the children are all adults. I agree with an earlier posting that the nervy American mum seems to have a separation issue. I forsee problems ahead for that family.

OMG obviously I was the only one who thought most of this programme was disgusting.

I am totally PRO bf but found watchin a 5 yr old suck on that womens boob made me cringe.

AS for EC good in principle but totally impractical.

Co sleeping - whatever works for you. Afraid I am one of those "cruel" mums who put dd in cot age 1 week.

Home schooling - well wait and see- girls from northumberland seemed to be a little disrespectful to me.

24Hr a day - not natural even in bloddy prehistoric days there was an extended clan to look after baby- I have only had 1 day away from daughter in 7 months but LOVE a few hours away from her occaisionaly. This method of parents is for those who can afford not to work obviously, I have to work.

i agree that the commentary was trying to make them all sound weird, it was the tone of voice etc that she used i think. the english couple did seem fairly normal and the americans always seem to do things bigger and better if you get what i mean. i personally couldnt do the EC as i dont really see what you gain other than not having to wear nappies, as they "graduate" at a similar age to a conventionally potty trained child.

i think some mainstream viewers will see it as extreme and weird and no doubt next time im out with ds in his didymos sling i may get some funny looks off people who have watched the programme and think im some sort of weirdo, but never mind. i might use it tomorrow just to see

i think it was a shame that there was such a low turnout for the feedathon for the whole country, it certainly high lights the low BF rates in UK

I thought the programme was Great.

Dh & I sat & watched it & both came to the conclusion that if more people parented the way these parents did the world would be a much nicer & more civilised place to live
