I love Agatha Christie's Poroit, Marple, Tommy and Tuppence. Also fan of Murder, She Wrote and Fr Dowling Mysteries.

I want to get into another crime/mystery series that isn't gruesome. Can be recent or one of the classics

Any recommendations?

There's a new series of Inspector George Gently starting next week.

Rosemary and Thyme when we're desperate. Not at all gruesome. We've done all the old midsomer murders, lewis's (Lewi, we call them), Morse I struggle to be arsed with. Inspector Montalbano if we can get it.

Also check out Radio 4 extra for some Agatha Christie's, Paul Temple, Baldi, Falco and Wimsey

On DVD Wimsey with Edward Petherbridge
Mrs Bradley with Diana Rigg

I love Endeavour but there haven't been many episodes of that. I'd watch Roger Allam read the phone book though.

Have you watched the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes? And what about Columbo?

Monk and Psych are both gentle, lots of comedy in them - I love them!

Thanks for all the suggestions, that should be enough to keep me going for a while.

LeBearPolar thanks I went with Foyle's War. Watched 1st episode last night and I really liked it. I didn't know it was a detective series so I would never have given it a shot otherwise.

Murdoch mysteries - good for a laugh. Set in early 20C and is some light watching. You do have to suspend your disbelief a fair bit though as he does tend to invent everything under the sun.

Or the mentalist? Not gruesome but more serious. Castle is quite funny.
