Well there does seem to a lot of people who come back, so I'd imagine they latch on to certain families. There have been rumors of the show leafletting certain deprived areas in search of new guests, enticing them with promises of free travel and hotel rooms (and free bar).
Once they are there, the "sides" are separated and wound up by production assistants to provide useful quotes that jeremy can shout back at them during the show.
Sometimes they are collected for show an hour before they are told so that they can look extra messy/unkempt/deshevelled (ever wondered "why on earth would you not wash your hair when going on telly?").
Once in studio they are recommended to pick out a number of points and to go out there and "get the point accross" / "make the other person listen" etc... that's why most of them come out screaming the same sentences over and over again, quite often at cross purposes with the other guests as they aren't listening to each other.
Jeremy will also frequently switch from being sympathetic to shouting, use the quotes said in anger the night before or that morning, etc....
All in all it is hugely manipulated, and once people are in it is very hard to back out/ see things rationally.

My mum was asked to go on Jeremy Kyle a few years ago, thank god she declined Confused

My advice would be to not only never go on show but decline any comment (when they ring) apart from saying you do not want them mentioning you in the show or them to ring back.

Awful if its true but believable ....I bet they don't get many sessions with the 'miracle worker' Graham the counsellor either....

I'd love to see Graham's Internet purchased qualifications.

I'd heard you get paid for the show. A persons self esteem must be pretty low to air everything on a show for a small fee though.

Still they can't make it all up - they don't give them track suits/scrunchies/knock their teeth out before the show surely?

I just hope there is genuinely someone they get help from afterwards when the celebs and security go home.

Agree Wally
In the old days though they would have a variety of topics/debates etc. Now it just seems to be paternity testing for those who could otherwise not foot the bill.

Also for someone who keeps ranting about "caring" and "getting people help", Jeremy seems to give an awful lot of lie detector tests (don't get me started on how reliable they must be) to partners of utterly paranoid partners who readily admit showering the accused with abuse. Does "the miracle worker" Graham actually consider these tests a solution to EA?
