I watched a bit but switched over. I think it was a mistake to have Mariah and Mary as it just shows what a rubbish singer he is (I hadn't thought that before).

It's so old fashioned but I suppose it might be in an ironic way ?

We watched the Perry Como 1974 Christmas special the other night. Now that was exceptionally cheesy (And Karen Carpenter's effortless voice makes Mariah Cary's seem so forced)

Ah my best pal was at the filming of this. It was filmed over two days in Vancouver ... She loved every second. I'll have to seek it out online to see if I can spot her.

It was very cheesy wasn't it? You could tell it was done for a North American audience. Still like him, though.

Used to like him. But the Christmas show was truely dire. Had to turn over.

I didn't watch the Christmas show but saw him interviewed by Graham Norton at new year and was surprised at how well he came across. Very funny, self-deprecating. He may well be an utter nob (no idea, haven't heard any gossip about how he is IRL) but he interviews very well Smile

It really reminded me of the Andy Williams show, it even had the Cookie Monster! I assumed it was deliberately cheesy and old fashioned. I loved it but I will watch any old crap if it's an Xmas special!
