It's supposed to get more interesting than the company had anticipated when the horsemeat scandal breaks. Iceland hadn't reckoned on that when they agreed to the filming Wink

Sole I was just about to post the same. It seems like a very friendly place. I've never shopped at Iceland.

Not seen it yet, but my local Iceland is one of the most depressing shops ever. Staff are so rude & unhelpful.

That's interesting. We have one in our local town but I've never been inside so no idea what the staff are like. Many years ago I used to go to Bejams with my dad. Is Iceland the modern version of that?

The PR man just seemed to spend much of his time watching Youtube videos.

The PR man clearly needs to be fired!

Our local Iceland is a lovely place. Staff are always friendly & helpful & are great with my 4 yr old DD who has Autism, plus they have great deals on a lot of things & brands are cheaper than the supermarkets.

I mainly go in for the greggs baileys cheesecake curly fries, which are one of the few things DD will eat. She only likes the Iceland ones & can tell the difference if you give her some from somewhere else.

ex employee here

joined when malcolm owned it
Then big food group bill grimsby took over.
then malcolm brought it back sent out crazy video to each store saying bill ruined the company.

Worked in few regions north , wales, south east and west.

maybe 20 stores.

Been to their depot and head office in north wales.

Still remember the scousers getting annoyed as they realied people in south were getting paid higher salary.

Most of them pretty grim and dated inside.
pay was not great
conditions were not great,

Many of them were in rough areas where staff feared for their safety had few death threats in my time.

When malcom did come back he chavved it right up everything became rounded up prices, everything became smaller in weight ,size like he hoped people wouldent notice.

Still kerry katonas gone now what a shame.

It simply lost its way.

I go farm foods as better value.
Used to be good for bog off groceries but now pound shops sell food then think much more competative,

Many used it as free home delivery.

Could tell you lots horrors but wouldent want to put you off working there

Worked with few either shit or mentally unstable managers.

Oh when malcom did come back he sent all the managers to disney land.

The staff get very little.

The newest uniforms quite grim.

I dont think he came across well over horsemeat thing accusing the tests of being lies.

yes I think Bejams became Iceland, because the one in the shops near us, used to be Bejams and they used to sell fridges and freezers too. OUrs still has a sign saying opened by princess Margaret and Bejams!

Iceland is good for some things. Frozen veg is fine and the £1 pizzas are popular on a Friday evening with the children. We also have a weakness for these potato things, like mini rostis with bacon in as well. we used to buy large flat ones from waitrose, but they stopped selling them and the Iceland ones are lovely.
