DD has learnt so much from Dora. We are often found singing arriba up, abajo down (sp?)

yes mine love it (I walked in on them doing all the actions!)

but from an adult point of view, what a marketing rip off. They have virtually the same characters (something similar to backpack and map) but they have obviously done it to go at the 'boy' market!!

ah it's dora is it?

foxinsocks · 04/07/2006 10:12

dora's cousin diego

on a positive note, mine can now say 'Alicia' with a totally impressive spanish accent

thank you.

DD is too young for Dora yet, but it seems a better class of programme than lazytown etc

is lazytown the one with spartacus?

both dora and diego are good and you will find your child picking up the odd spanish word!

last night dd (who eats plenty of fruit and veg anyway) insisted on having a carrot after her pudding because spartacus eats lots of fruit and veg and can do all sorts of impressive athletic moves (apparently) and this morning, she could almost do a cartwheel! Amazing this fruit and veg lark.

dd loves it too. Her best mate is half Spanish so she watches it so she can pick up some words to impress her friend! I've never watched it tbh.

Lazytown seems ok to me though

lazytown has a 10 yr old girl and 2 grown men dressed in lycra

and I think the girl has a crush on one of the men

bit weird TBH

DD prefers doodle do and the tweenies

Sportacus.

Yes it does send out a good message

WelshBoris · 04/07/2006 10:23

yeah good measure but a weird undercurrent

and a bit too American

foxinsocks · 04/07/2006 10:24

lazytown is totally weird

I never watch their TV anymore but was strangely fascinated by lazytown and ended up watching the whole thing with them (I waited till the end and saw it's Icelandic which possibly explains something as I can't think of any other notable Icelandic children's programmes)

it's v popular with dd (age 5) and her mates

good message I meant

but having said that do you remember Chorlton and the Wheelies ? I looked that up on the internet and that was totally weird but I really loved it - and they didn't do 'good messages' in our day really.

no it's a Lazytown thing - I think I got it wrong, could it be called 'sport candy'? Which means fruit or veg I believe.
