Anyone seen that baby mind reader programme?

It was on Channel Five last night. A medium claims he can communicate with children who can't yet speak and tell their parents what they want to say.

I know how TV programmes are edited to fit the script. And I'm not convinced about mediums. But it was still stunning.

The mother was at the end of her tether with her little girl. You can't make someone say that. And certainly she had problems beyond normal tantrums/hitting her mother. Most of the day seemed to be melt down. The mind reader who apparently wasn't briefed on the family background claimed the little girl was telling him a. she hated her car seat because it meant she was sitting above her mother and that was scary b. she hated her buggy because it faced away from her mother and c. she was frightened of men and worried about her mother because her father had attacked her mother at 7m pregnant. The last bit was factually correct. And changing the car seat and buggy did seem to calm her down - mother said it was the first time she had ever been out of the house without a breakdown.

And whether he was a fraud or not, he encouraged the mother to seek help to deal with the lasting effects of the attack.

Can't make up my mind about this, but it was very impressive. Would be interested to know what anyone else thinks!

Thank you Biglips! Swearing was weird but mother confirmed those were words her ex-partner said to her. Which was spooky.

I don't think the programme would blatantly give him detailed information about her life.

I found this weird .and worrying.

PLaying with people's minds etc for TV- yuk.

And did no one else notice the new car seat cos baby 'objected'to the old one was a 3rd stage one?

I did cos it was the same as dd1s - who went into it aged 3y3mo - and was only just heavy enough. This alone was completely irresponsible - without all the head messing goin on.

i saw the first episode of this show and liked it.
saw last nights and was put off by it.

he was swearing a LOT in front of a pretty intelligent 21 month old (who probably picks up words good!) and the car seat, in the front seat of the car when she clearly had a backseat.

i dont doubt he can do what he says. but did anyone see the second show? was it also a single mom? (the first show and last nights shows were both single moms.)

i dont know if we'll watch the next one or not...

Little girl can't talk yet but agree it was disturbing. Repeating back to a victim of domestic violence the words the perpetrator said can be very distressing. Found it odd that they were showing very clear shots of her house and immediate surroundings. Unless the father knows where it is, anyway. And did you clock that it took four police officers to arrest him, he was so out of control, yet he got off with a conditional discharge?

this guy is an absolute charlatan.

fat mum with fat toddler. Says to mum that fat toddler really wants fruit - errrrrrrrm, how does a toddler know what 'fruit' is?? Cheap shot.

I really can't belive this trash is on TV.

the guy is a genius - he has found a way of getting himself on TV for telling parents what anybody could tell them in 3 seconds flat.

To fat mum - you have a weight issue
In very messy household - your dd wants things to be put away in the right place
To young single mum- you still have hang ups about your relationship with dd's father and some men have treated you badly.

i just don't know how he does it...

and sadly guessing that somebody called young single mum 'You f###ing b#tch' isn't such a wild guess really, is it?

I found the last episode of this really disturbing. I absolutely do not believe that this man can hear babies talk. I think he is incredibly perceptive & does alot of guesswork. He asked loads of questions to that poor woman on the last one before getting some "yes" responses from her.
You don't have to be a mind-reader to guess at a few sensible parenting tips with someone you know is having parenting problems.
I was horrified that they are picking really vulnerable people and televising their experiences. Not nice at all.
