Having googled out of curiosity, it seems he is in constant pain and needs 5 days clear to recover. Due to work commitments, 5 clear days was difficult to find - I guess Strictly is ideal as it appears to be weekend work and I guess he has no week commitments at the moment.

(and it seems he is patron of the National Osteoporosis Society as his mother suffered from it)

I know now more about him than I need to. Including the fact that he appears to have had a breast reduction
