Who wants to be a TV actor?

My dh, along with another TV actor, is running an intensive TV acting course.

He, like most actors, learned on the job which meant there were some utterly cringe-worthy early performances. That's why he's convinced there's a demand for this.

I wondered if people outside the industry might be interested, or whether he should just target the obvious places like Uni drama depts and drama schools.

It might be worth posting adverts at adlt education places.

I reckon lots of people outside the industry would be interested.

I would imagine that those studying drama already would have an "advantage" that perhaps your DH doesnt particularly want though?

what guarantees of work could he give though? I mean are his courses acknowledged by Equity or similar?

I only say this as years and years ago I went on a "tv news presenter" equivalent and felt right ripped off when I realised it counted for nothing, lack of talent not withstanding [winnk]

Suzy it's a new venture so it doesn't have recognition from people like Equity. Tbh though TV casting people choose people on the strength of auditions and they may take previous telly work into account. There are no qualifications which get you anywhere in the industry. You just need to be able to act well, as soon as the camera's rolling.

TV is notoriously hard to get into though and people are forced to learn on the job because there's no training. (Drama schools do a token session normally).

Perhaps this course really should just be aimed at people who're on the road to TV acting anyway.
Perhaps stage actors who'd like to break into telly.
