How did I manage to miss Green Wing - What happened at the end of the series!?!?!?!?!

Somehow I managed to miss the end of Green Wing - and I've only just relised!

The last episode I saw was the one where Mac and Caroline were supposed to go on a trip together but he got called into a meeting to be told he had cancer (or some fatal illness)

Then Guy met Caroline at the train station and she said she would marry him.

I'm not sure how many episodes I missed (I went away on holiday and forgot all about it)

Please please please some one tell me what happened!!!!!
