Anyone else looking forward to this tonight? I love Martin Clunes in this! Even DH likes it ( but still pretends not to!)

BIT Nervous in case it has been ruined

I think it's already been ruined. It got more than ridiculous last time round. He became quite dislikable. I didn't enjoy the last series. Hope it's improved.

I don't know if I'll get to see it tonight, but I'm a fan. Makes a change from all the other tv that's on.

Wimpy kiss. Were their lips even touching?!

Witco · 02/09/2013 21:44

It's dragged on a bit and is cheesy but it makes a change from violence and swearing. Christ, I'm becoming my mother!

Where did he get that torch from?!

I like Louisa's wedding dress though - I like sleeves.

I love him he is beautiful, but the storys are silly

I thought the doc wasn't good with blood. He seems to be coping well with quite a lot tonight.

Report
wintera · 02/09/2013 23:23

He got over his blood problem a couple of series ago but I was reading an interview with Martin Clunes the other day who said it might reoccur this series so there you go. Same interview said that MC lost a few stone before filming began again but then he got very ill so lost even more weight. So if you thought he looked a bit pale and pasty looking then that's why. I really liked Louisa's dress it was lovely. Shame it got wrecked though!

I kept thinking the wedding as a dream as Louisa want wearing any earrings and didn't look as beautiful as she did in her other wedding.

Otherwise it really dragged on, silly story. Really wanted it to be good.

i thought wedding was a dream, it was a bit cringe inducing, why did they have to leave the lodge for their luggage?
but it was ok in the end. made us chuckle.

Report
Sizzlesthedog · 03/09/2013 07:25

They left the lodge because Martin had tried to light the fire and the chimney was blocked and caused all the soot and smoke to fill the lodge.

He left to find a phone to call Bert to take them home. ( I think)

Why did he look so angry during the wedding, no hymns or readings or anything. Also neither of their parents were present at the wedding. They have all featured in other episodes so we know they exist. Possibly Martins father died in one episode, can't remember.

waikikamookau · 03/09/2013 07:28

I know sizzle. that is the problem with tv programmes. the parents are there for a couple of episodes, but something major like a wedding or a funeral, they have vanished. daft.

Report
wintera · 03/09/2013 07:46

Martin doesn't have a good relationship with his parents though. Claire Bloom played his mum and seem to remember her saying really awful things to him when they visited once. Auntie Joan was more like a mother to him.

Louisa's Dad is a dodgy criminal isn't he? Think he may even be in prison. Am sure there was an ep when he came back but the village hated him after he stole a load of money from them or something like that. However, Louisa's Mum was in the last series so she should have been there really, that did seem strange. Maybe the actress was busy filming something else.

What was the power cut at Martins house all about? Why was the whole village there? Do you think we will see more of the electrician? He looks like a new character.

Yeah it was all a bit daft but I have to say, I did like the scenes between Eileen Atkins and the very cute babies. I say babies as I'm sure there were two different ones!

Dd and I were so looking forward to it, it's her first "grown up" tv series. It was a bit rubbish I thought. I hope they are going to get back to normal and cut out the ridiculous slapstick.

Eileen Atkins seems always to be on the verge of shagging the young whippersnappers she gets to come round with spanners, which would be most untoward.

Claire Bloom is going to come back. I read it in the Express. Grin

I also read that they are all doing some charity thing because one of the babies has some nasty condition. Sad The baby was really funny last night though.

Report
wintera · 03/09/2013 10:32

Eileen Atkins had the chance of shagging Colin Farrell in real life once. She turned him down lol!

Shock

That electrician better watch himself. I kept thinking she was going to shag Thingy (Bert's lad) in the last series.

I quite fancy PC Penhale

It was dire. I watched some of the earlier series and can't believe how it's gone downhill.

Doc Martin has turned into mr Bean with his gurning and silly antics.

It's not even believable any more. Complete tosh.
