Pulled from Red magazines tv picks of the week.

Wednesday 21st August:

Welcome to the World of Weight Loss, BBC2, 9pm

Some women visit slimming clubs religiously. And, often, they inspire cult-like devotion. But just how healthy are the likes of WeightWatchers, Slimming World and co? Filmmaker Vanessa Engle decides to investigate their meetings, as she follows the women battling weight loss ? from the sisters who have lost 16 stone to the students who have been on a diet since primary school.

Why doesn't she spend money on a personal trainer instead of WW Confused. It's not like she's broke.

I've never been on a diet so this fascinates me.

I'm fascinated. I've never been to a slimming club but my mum has been to WW and I know people who have done SW. It all seems to be a bit patronising but I suppose it helps people who need support and the discipline of being weighed in public on a weekly basis. I prefer to do it in the privacy of my bathroom!

I don't understand the posh woman either.

Such a shame abou the lady with the cats. Nothing wrong with her at all but no confidence to function in society.

Agree bisjo Im on a health and fitness plan and have been power walking every day. Yesterday i had a sarcastic wolf whistle yelled out at me from a car. This type of harassment in the street doesnt help matters.

I think it was good that it touched on the emotional eating that causes some of us to gain weight. I wish it'd been a series, though, so it could have gone into this more.

It's on iPlayer until Wednesday night.
