And it's a 2 pm start, not 1 as I thought.

Quite looking forward to it really, and I think Lipsticki will have the crowd on her side but Bartoli had made a lot of new fans.

Dh has decided we are having a barbequeHmm. Last time he did that, he invited his brother over during the final of the French! Shock.

There are doubles finals too- will post order of play when not stuck on my phone.

Lipsticki gets my vote, she seems so lovely. And thrilled & humbled to be in the final.

Present and correct - and sober!
Apologies for elder dd's hijacking of thread whenever my back was turned yesterday but a convert to Mn is born and as she will be a mum herself in 5 weeks? She's in I suppose.
Been up since 5.30 to get work together to email off. Have to drop dd younger at Swansea Uni this morning as she is there till 6pm on a drama practice for her play later this month then off to meet dd elder's new landlady - with flowers - did I mention I am happy to see them move out Smile then it will be home and tennis. And a long ponder about what I can spare from home to give to dd for her new flat so it won't look so sparse when they move in 3 weeks and 6 days time...
Thanks for the shiny new thread raahh and I am off to the shower.

I am going to be out with my bf this afternoon Shock as long as we use the rug doctor successfully on my carpets this morning.

I said that there was Wimbledon. He is not a tennis fan. And told me I could listen to radio 5 in the car. This is not quite the same....

Why have I been awake over an hour when I am the only human in the house? Over excitement about Wimbledon maybe?

I went once and loved it :) Due to the work I do that is always the same time of year my chances of going again are minimal :(

Some people have no idea[ grin] .

If I'd scheduled a knees up during a football match, dh would have kittens. Grin

Miranda- I've been up ages too- mainly due to dd2 waking several times. The suspicious looking spot seems to have gone though.

At one point, she was having a conversation with me about my knickers being twistedConfused.

Turns out, she meant necklaceGrin

DH suggested I might like to mow the lawn this afternoon.
doesn't he know my spot on the sofa is waiting for me?
As if.

And I've not forgotten the doubles- always good to watch, some brilliant finals in the past- usually involving the Woodies. I loved the Woodies!

Weather is a bit skewif here badkitten Think it may be coastal fog but its dank and dull and no breeze about to push it on through. I can't see the river from my bedroom and normally, I can. Its gone as has the bridge as have the houses by the bridge. It looks as if, any minute now, it could drizzle - a lot. Got a wash on as well, bugger it.

It's cos the sea temps are lower than they ought to be sieze. If you are in the SW it could be a bit of a continued feature through this warm spell. In the east it should sort itself out over the next couple of days hopefully.

Haven't watched any women's matches this year.

Might tune into this one.

I'm in Germany-perhaps I'll be able to tell how well Lisicki is doing by sitting outside & listening for cheers!

diddl- I really think this could be a good match- I've been really impressed with Lisicki, not least that the has been able to follow up beating Serena with equally good performances.

But I'm developing a soft spot for Bartoli- yes, she looks scary and cross when she's playing, and her style of play is not the most traditional, but she doesn't give up. And she's her own worst critic, I think.

I haven't looked forward to a women's final this much in years. TennisTennis

And I offer up my first-born to the first commentator to say:

'there will be a new name on the famous Venus Rosewater Dish tonight!'

because you just know someone will say it!

badkitten Yes, South West Wales but fog is lifting now, its getting brighter - clothes will dry today!
Just had a horrible drive - taking dd to her drama thing and there is a main road that is surrounded by farmland where cows cross over regularly. We rounded corner, in the fog and mist and were greeted by lots of flashing blue lights. Ambulances, fire engines, police, but no police to turn us cars around, have to guess they were dealing with whatever had happened. I dread to think what has happened there, if the cows were hit, if there was a huge crash but far too many emergency vehicles for this to be a small thing. Gave me shivers. We went up through the farm lanes instead, got out the other end of it all and an old woman had collapsed on street up there and had an ambulance and one of those first responder things - crikey, some people have had a lousy Saturday already. Glad to be home safely really. May walk down to dd's flat to meet landlady. I hate coming across accidents. There for the Grace of God and all that...
