Will contain spoilers, so don't read unless you have!

A thread for those of us who are too impatient to wait a whole week for new episodes to share our theories without ruining it for more sensible people.

My first question - what happened at the end? Where did all the police officers go?

I thought the ending was a little flat. where was all the bloodshed from the firefight? Why is Lucy now the spokesperson for the revenants? was she always one of them or did she below one when killed by Serge? if they were so insistent on getting them all back that they're coming back for the half revenants baby, why didnt they bother about Serge and his mum who were still downstairs?

SaskiaRembrandtVampireHunter · 27/06/2013 17:32

Yes, I couldn't understand why there wasn't any blood or any bullet casings after what sounded like a massive gunfight.

I think Lucy did die when she was attacked, although, I'm not sure it was Serge who did it. Possibly it was Victor - he did make Serge appear to Toni in the car - although I have no idea why. I also wonder if Serge is in some way different to the other revenants and that might why they didn't come for him. Maybe, they were good people who came back looking for revenge, but he was a bad person who needed to make amends? Although, that wouldn't apply to the mu, so I'm probably wrong.

Of course, this may all be conjecture, the final episode raised as many questions as it answered Grin

I'm just starting Episode 7 but NEED to put this thread on my list! Thanks, Saskia.

Oh. My. God. I've just witnessed a zombie self-belly-scoffing moment.
I want to be sick ... but I've got to keep watching to the end!

that bit made me laugh, garlic! simon is disgusting Grin

DH and I were asking ourselves all these questions, then realised how ridiculously seriously we were taking the whole tale Grin

Can't wait for the next installment!

Report
garlicnutty · 28/06/2013 16:31

Well, I'd totally forgotten about the self-murdering, belly-scoffing family in the basement too! Do you think the revenants left them to wait for Toni to regenerate?

Why is Lena the only living person to have a manky scar? Has it healed up since Serge applied nettles?

If Adele aborts her demi-zombie foetus ... what will become of it? Scary thought Shock

Really, I wish there wouldn't be such long gaps between series like this. I missed the last season of Homeland, and a few other stories I loved, by simply forgetting to keep an eye out for them!

... ah, just thought Homeland might be on YouTube ... !

BlackAffronted · 28/06/2013 19:50

No-one has even mentioned Lena's scar since she went missing! They are a bizarre lot ...

So, revenants have living sperm then .... Grin or is it also dead?

It's life, Jim, but not as we know it.

Report

why are they returned, why those certain people and how long for?

Pfft! (See, I've gone all French,) I don't know, but I do think it's everyone who died in the old village plus some others ... Possibly even everyone who's died since then? Plus some butterflies, half-eaten rabbits and a wolf. Hein.

why did lucy know what their purpose was yet camille and victor etc didnt?

Do you think Lucy may have been a zombie already, when she blew in on the bus? Could she be part of an as-yet unrevealed Homeopathic Dam Plan??

where did the police go?

Home? Ils doivent être inondés maintenant :( Perhaps they'll all be policiers revenants in the next episode.

will they come back for adele?

Mais bien sûr! She's the hybrid zombie baby-momma, not to mention beloved of disgusting self-belly-scoffing Simon. She is the clef, I tells ya, le clef!

did they only take chloe as a barter? why did simon agree to this?

Yes, and because he's a selfish, disgusting twat. With nice hair and a moderately charming dick, I'll give you that, but a twat all the same.

is julie one of them?

Ben, je ne sais pas! What do you think?

how does victor influence people to hurt themselves?

He seems to be a manifestation of Justice, doesn't he? But I'm not altogether sure that's it - more that he was a bit psychic as a real child (nightmares) and now he's developed the ability to transfer his visions to other people. Obviously, this is exactly as it happens in real life.

why didnt they want serge? what will he do?

Fuck knows! He's a persistent little belly-scoffer, isn't he?!

what happened to serge in the water?

OK, do you think that, now he's revenu for the second time, he's turned into Nice Serge and given up murderous belly-scoffing?

is it only revenants who can't leave, or is it everyone?

Definitely everyone. Laure and Toni were alive when they got trapped. So was Julie, depending on your pov.

what is the uncovered-once drowned town relevence?

Eh, everyone always feels a bit maudlin about those drowned towns at the bottoms of reservoirs. It's easy to imagine they're full of unfinished business & pent-up emotions.

why did mr costa freak out?

I imagine that, having tied up his dead wife, doused her in petrol and set fire to her, he may have been surprised to find her loafing on a park bench, right as rain and wisecracking with a fag in one hand.

how did mme costa die? I personally believe her starvation story sad

Hmm ... What if that was more of a true story than she let on: they were starving and Mr Costa ate her?

PIERRE! why hasnt he aged? is he a reverant? why did he kill victors family? whats he up to now? sooo much to find out about him!

I DON'T KNOW! I've loathed him since first sight, however, and he's just grated on me more and more. I'm with Jerôme on the subject of Pierre. Has he not aged? Could he have been 20 then, and 50 now? If he's a revenant as well, that would be why Victor didn't (couldn't) enact revenge on him.

are camille, victor and simon decomposing? what was the deal with lenas back?

Well, it looks like they are - but I've no clue what's going on with Léna's back Confused

why didnt jerome and lena go with claire, camille and the other reverants?

Coz they is not dead yet.

Report
BlackAffronted · 29/06/2013 14:24

Some great stuff there garlic. Hadnt considered that Pierre had aged normally & was quite young when Victor/Louis was shot.

Claire isnt dead yet, but went with Camille. Why didnt her dad or sister go with them?

I LOVE the idea Mr Costa ate Mrs Costa mwahahahha

If no-one can leave the town, does that mean all the other townsfolk are now drowned?

Report
anonacfr · 01/07/2013 23:05

Claire gets on my nerves so badly. Her breathy sighing voice... urgh

Mme Costa, on the other hand is absolutely fabulous. I don't believe her starving story though. She said after the dam broke they were trapped for three weeks- definitely not long enough to starve considering they seemed to have supplies, not to mention water, berries etc. Surely it would take a lot longer for someone to starve?

I'm still not sure whether or not Adele is dead. When Lucy spoke to Thomas she made it sound as if Adele was dead but then Chloe mentioned wanting her baby and not her... I don't know.

I assume the zombie horde were the dead from the dam accident. Not quite sure what their purpose actually is yet. The others resurrected later at the same time. My theory? To impregnate humans- Camille was meant to have sex with Frederic, Simon with Adele and Serge with.... someone. It's like they are trying to breed?
By the way I really thought Serge wouldn't come back because he seemed to melt in the homeopathic lake.

I'm not sure where the zombies are gone- have they all turned into water? There was water in Camille's grave after all.

I just hope that Julie, Victor and Mme Costa make it. When Victor (or should I say Louis) told Julie she was his good fairy my heart melted.

Thomas was sooooo creepy when was rounding up the undead at the end.

And by the way what is missing in translation- for me Pierre speaks like a priest. He has a peculiar turn of phrase that reminds me of French gospel translation. Speaking of priest where is our little Judas? He wasn't at the helping hand.

Report
garlicnutty · 01/07/2013 23:39

OOooh, I hadn't thought of them trying to breed, anon! That's genius!

YY, I don't think the biblical turns of phrase would translate properly here, anyway. We're not as suffused with Catholicism. There's also the French punning, so important to the French but works in a different way from ours. "The Helping Hand" is the right translation for La Main Entendue, but lacks all the connotations associated with an outstretched hand ... and so on. Blummin' frogs, with their weird religious double entendres Wink

Who's the priest's little Judas?

Report
anonacfr · 01/07/2013 23:49

I meant the priest himself- he was a bit of a Judas betraying Simon like that.
That scene was all rather odd thinking back, he was eerily calm when Simon showed up out of nowhere. I actually thought it was going to emerge that Simon hadn't killed himself after all but the zombie apocalypse seemed to put an end to that storyline.

I'm actually sad at the way Simon went from being an 'angel' to Lucy's weird zombie minion.
WHO THE FUCK IS LUCY?????

Report
garlicnutty · 01/07/2013 23:51

Oh, I don't think Adele is dead/undead. I've bought the script's story that she's felt dead inside - that is, severely depressed - since her non-wedding with Simon (how nice for Chloe.) But she does seem to be being set up as a crossover character, so I'm waiting to see what doors she will unlock ... at least, I'm currently waiting, but I'll have forgotten about it by the time S2 airs!

I'm mystified by Thomas. Apart form the creepy hidden cameras, which are just about explicable, his words & actions are those of a Good Man, really. But why have they cast him to an actor with such a great line in suppressed scariness??

I love Mme Costa, too Grin I want her to have a massive role in S2.

garlicnutty · 01/07/2013 23:57

Nah, I didn't like Simon from the off. You can have him Grin

I see what you meant about the priest! Yes, where was he? Off getting his bell, book & candle certificate updated, perhaps? Or has he been whisked away to the was-underwater church to officiate at zombie hybrid christenings? Gah, it's so frustrating!!!!

WHO THE FUCK IS LUCY?????

Report
anonacfr · 02/07/2013 10:58

I don't think Thomas is a 'good man'. All his actions so far have been purely selfish- he's done everything to keep Adele and Chloe. I thought the scenes at the end were chilling.
He was literally prepared to tear children out of their loved ones' arms and yet when it came to yielding Adele he put the whole group in danger without even consulting them.

And the cameras are just not on. There is no excuse. It was spying, pure and simple.
Interesting that he reproduced the town's CCTV setup that he used at work for domestic purposes.

I don't find him good, I find him scary. It's even scarier that 'leader' Pierre has retreated in the background and left Thomas in sole charge. There was so far no sign that the undead were really threatening.
They came for Victor in the car, they could easily have broken in and taken him but they didn't. Is it possibly because they wanted to give him a choice? By being all aggressive Thomas might have just doomed everyone needlessly.

Right, I have scrolled to the end without reading the thread to ask: those of you who have watched the whole thing and read the various documents etc on the website - are the documents on the website spoilery for what we are going to find out in eps 5-8 or are we safe to discuss them on the non-spoiler thread because the things mentioned in the documents are not mentioned in the episodes?
Thank you in advance
