REALLY???? Joans was up around the middle for us, and the finale i think was the least, with australia the next to last, even though i thought it was a clever spoof but i cant stand Kylie!!

our top ones were vikingland ,Alexaaaaander, minted, and dickens i think.

dont like jessie j but thought joan was rteally good and that video started a mini crushette on Mat from me!!!!

thought YOU started the survey. Greg Jenner started it?

GreenShadow Sat 20-Jul-13 22:25:02

Yes, I started the poll and Greg has re-tweeted it to his followers.

GameSetAndMatch Sat 20-Jul-13 22:29:28

ah, that was nice of him!

i dont use twitter or facebook or anything like that, so i can only join in on things like this! this is the only online 'thingy' i do.

Results of most popular song poll are out!
45 people submitted their favourites.

There was a tie at the top with 10 people each preferring both the Charles Dickens song and the Finale, then a big jump down to 5 favouring Alexander (bit of a surprise), 4 for Owain Glyndwr, 3 for Rosa Parkes, Vikings and Norman Family Tree. Only two people liked Marcus Licinius Crassus, Joan of Arc and Transport Pioneers best, one person went for Henry VII and no one chose Australia.

At the bottom, 14 people liked Joan of Arc least, closely followed by 12 for Australia. After that it was a fairly even split with all song receiving between one and four votes for least liked apart from Charles Dickens which not one single person liked least.

Looking at it another way, if you add all the preferences together, i.e. the average rating for each song, then the Finale stands out as most popular followed by Owain Glyndwr (which had a lot of second place votes), Dickens (which had quite a few low marks) and the Viking Song. Joan of Arc and Australia still unfortunately came last.

Done, surprised it worked, since I'm sitting on my mother's balcony pointing my phone at the neighbors house whose Wi-Fi I'm accessing.
My vote should tip the balance to the Dickens song. I haven't seen Finale yet though. I'm very curious about it now.

GreenShadow Tue 23-Jul-13 14:12:44

The Finale is very emotional Gracelo .... Hopefully it will be on tonight.

Gracelo Tue 23-Jul-13 20:05:09

I won't be back in GB in time, will have to watch on iplayer. So sad it's over.

They seem to write songs for Martha in a particularly duff way, shoehorning a lot of non-scanning lyrics in to make rhymes - I think she does pretty well with them, considering! Although I liked the Joan of Arc on much more on second hearing this afternoon, the lyrics were better than I remembered.

I think Alexander came out high on account of Ben in a skirt. BEN! sad Henry VIII will never be 'just a fat king' again to me. (murmble murmble murmble)

GameSetAndMatch Wed 24-Jul-13 17:21:10

thought joan of arc was good! and i cant believe vikingland came so low.

my newly converted friend LOVES it and says thats her fave, along with the 4 Georges!

sophiedaal Wed 24-Jul-13 17:25:23

Vikingland was brilliant. Larry should look into being a Viking full time, it suits him.

GameSetAndMatch Wed 24-Jul-13 17:30:30

yes i liked his hippy dancing in that one!

GameSetAndMatch Wed 24-Jul-13 18:58:20

HH name for royal baby!

Born to rule over you......

and

Alexaaaaander..........

wriggletto Wed 24-Jul-13 19:04:04

And Marcus Licinius... oh. Maybe not.

GameSetAndMatch Wed 24-Jul-13 19:15:37

although hes minted!!! grin they aint rich like him and the rest of the royals!!

ZingWidge Wed 24-Jul-13 21:35:58

I'm now! thanks for posting OP!

my kids know most of the songs - Charles the 2nd is one favourite.
I love Boudicea.

HH is ace, they and I have learnt so much. we also have the books.

can't wait! yay!

GreenShadow Wed 24-Jul-13 22:10:52

It's not just the children who have learnt so much Zing !

I did history to A level, but have picked up so much more just through watching all 5 series.

Gracelo Thu 25-Jul-13 08:08:32

Oh that was fab, just watched Finale, got all teary.
I just want to sit here and watch all my favourite bits of HH rather than unpack the suitcases.
We should have a best song of all 5 series poll, but I doubt I could decide, there are just too many brilliant ones.

GameSetAndMatch Tue 30-Jul-13 19:47:51

LOL. Simon and Garfunkel's ''the boxer'' just came on the radio and me and DC just simultaniously (sp) burst into ''we vikings have an awful reputation....vikingland.....heres to you Olafr haroldson....london bridge is falling down....lai lai lai lai lai lai...''.

sad oh how we miss it already sad.

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges Sat 03-Aug-13 11:01:40

I've made a thread to rank all the songs from all series Here

GameSetAndMatch Sat 03-Aug-13 20:58:37

GameSetAndMatch Mon 05-Aug-13 20:00:56

just seen trailer for yonderland. broadcast in the autumn.

hmmm. great its the cast but don't know......

hope im not getting expectations too high......

how can anyone top HH?

GreenShadow Mon 05-Aug-13 22:28:56

Agree Game,

I know a lot of hardcore fans are really looking forward to it, but it's the format and content of HH that I like, not just the cast.

Does it have songs does anyone know?

(The fact that we can't receive Sky has got nothing to do with it)

GameSetAndMatch Tue 06-Aug-13 20:05:12

yes its the though of them doing something different and not true or factual that im a bit meh about.

im sure it will be good, its just were so used to seeing the cast AS the HH lot.

you know, Mat IS Charles ll, Ben IS Henry Vlll etc etc.

for me personally ive typecasted them!
