Did I miss a bit in last week's episode? It started with Gill getting attacked in her car then went back to 8 months previously. The attack was never mentioned again. Did I miss it or is it to be referred to next week?

You didn't miss anything, I suspect they will go back to it. I'm assuming it's related to that case so we needed the background but it was a but wierd. I thought I'd missed something at first too.

Thanks! It's my guilty pleasure!

If I recall, they usually have a story that runs through the whole series, as well as stories in each weekly episode - I guess that is it for this series.

Was a fantastic opening episode, really excited to see the rest of the series.

Agreed. But Rachel should have posted on MN before marrying what's his name!

I'm confused,I thought last week was a two week storyline?!

And now this week was a different story.

I am being thick I think.

I think hope that Nicola Walker's character will run through the series (like that serial killer chap who killed Janet's friend and is penelope wiltons butler in downton) based on there being a trailer with a scene with her in that wasn't in the 1st episode

It felt like the story hasn't finished so that makes sense.

I thought it was the 1st of a two parter last week Confused

I'm finding it very difficult to follow - it's jumping around all over the place.
It started off with Rachel confessing she'd been unfaithful, and then it went back 12 months to when she got married.

I was very confused by last night's episode. Hope the series sorts itself out.

Isn't each episode edging closer to what happens to Gill in her car?

Love this show, last nights's was great, Sally Lindsay is a great actress.

That's what I thought too, Yoni, but last night's episode took us back in time even further to the events of the last series. I'm sure it will all come together eventually. As always, it is really good drama.

Completely agree Sally Lindsay is good, as is the rest of the cast. I like Tracie Bennett's portrayal of the tarty old mother - another example of great acting.

Completely hooked. Any thoughts as to who might have attacked Gill yet? I keep looking out for glimpses of clues, but no idea yet unless it's Bailey herself?

I thought Tracie Bennett was great last night too! I was thinking she was too young to play Suranne Jones mum, but have just googled them and Tracie's 51, Suranne's 34, so about right for the character - although not sure how old the older sister's meant to be?

I was really confused by episode 2, I watched the first episode again today and Gill's attacker definitely sounded like Bailey.

For some reason episode 2 doesn't seem to be on iplayer?

Poor old Tracie playing a mum of two 34 plus year olds - I remember when she was playing a teen - now I'm really showing my age Shock

Agree it's a bit confusing but still ok.

Yes, I remember Tracie as Rita's foster child in Corrie!

I thought this week's was a repeat from the last series.

Because last week's rachael was talking how she hates being married to Sean, then this week it all about before she got married.

I don't like when they chop and change and show programmes out of order.

Agree re. tarty mother - great old-school acting. That kareoke scene at the wedding - just amazing. I bet the actress is really sedate in real life!

Just love the acting, all the main female actresses are great. The characterisations are great - amazing women, but very flawed.

Even Rachel's husband who plays a "bloke" had this amazing look in his eyes as he questioned Rachel about the guy who rang looking for "Susie".

Love it.

I am really confused: so did they discover who murdered the wife eunace? (I was mnetting so not really following and won't watch catchup as I will forget to before next week I know) and also is this entire story tied up or do you think there is more to come on it? it is very gripping and I assume we have yet to know whats going on with the boss and the car storyline in ep.1?

Joe the psychopath dad murdered his wife Eunice. There was some talk of his being bed-bound and her abusing him then he hopped out of his hospital bed for a fag and proved himself nimble enough to kill her.

As for the scene where the police boss Gill ("Godzilla" to Janet and Rachel) had someone in the car, I think it was Helen, Joe's daughter, angry because she suffered so much and went to them re her brother - the only reason they found all the bodies. Then because of Gill's initial request the CPS went ahead with their prosecution of Helen for hindering a lawful burial or whatever it was. I didn't get that bit because she was a minor, wasn't she? So how could they prosecute her? Esp after all she's lived through.

I really liked Gill's boss too.

many thanks fiderer..I really need to start listening to programmes and giving them my full attention but try and do it all with the computer out at the same time. Yes I really like Gill's boss too: she was also in Prisoners Wives (bbc1) and was fantastic as a nervous jitttery mum of a vunerable prisoner so a complete contrast to the part she plays here. I agree that it's Ruth from Spooks sorry Helen in the car!
