Digital channel CITV steps back in time during the weekend of the 5th and 6th January 2013. From 9:25am through to 6pm on both days, the channel will showcase some of the best children's programming from the heyday of CITV. Of note is the absence of anything since 2006 - the year the CITV channel was born, but also the year when ITV largely abandoned children's programming.

JambalayaWarmMincePie Mon 17-Dec-12 02:12:39

CITV channel is already showing the original art attack - DD1 thinks its amazing. All those toilet roll tubes and PVA glue things. And Neil Buchanans jumpers!!!

This is an art attack? This is an art attack!

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock Mon 17-Dec-12 02:14:47

oh yes the queens nose! that was BBC.

but oh "chuckle chuckle vision, chuckle vision....." grin

IvanaNapAfterChristmasDinner Mon 17-Dec-12 02:16:09

I don't think I actually ever watched much of it Schro but by eck it had a catchy theme tune!

Art Attack is great take note Mr Maker
Loved How 2, too.

giraffesCantFlyLikeReindeer Mon 17-Dec-12 02:35:57

Oh I loved children's Ward and the worst witch! I liked Clarissa too!

confuddledDOTcom Mon 17-Dec-12 02:37:19

I can't wait! These are from the days when CITV was the best channel for children's programmes.

I want to watch Woof! because I didn't realise until years later it was filmed near me and then it was too late to check.

I got annoyed that it wasn't the Queen's nose coin used in the show, how hard would it be to find the right coin??? I still get them now and get very excited about it and I'm sure if they don't turn up you can ask a bank/ PO/ radio show for one!

Does anyone know what this programme is, this is all I can remember of it, there was an alien(?) that spoke to the main character and would appear as a pretty light show on the ceiling. I remember my brother and I using a torch shone through the light shade to play it confused

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock Mon 17-Dec-12 02:46:11

confuddled was the main character a girl or boy? what age? hair colour etc? what sort of things happened in the show?

confuddledDOTcom Mon 17-Dec-12 03:08:52

I honestly don't remember! I used to love it, whatever it was! I think the child would be in bed and this light show (amazing 80s SFX) appeared on the ceiling of the bedroom - I think the child was doing stuff for the alien. I must have been pretty young to not remember so must have been mid-80s.

Oh my goodness, I'm rather excited! All the good shows!

dylsmimi Mon 17-Dec-12 07:00:51

Hooray! Very excited about knightmare, fraggle rock and worst witch! smile we have button moon on dvd and Ds loves it!
confuddled was it on in the school holidays in the am not after school with a girl whose dad was an alien & could freeze time etc? He used to speak wisely to her at the end through a pyramid light up thing. The music was 'would you like to swing on a star'?
I annoyingly can't remember what it was called but remember the program! Someone may know the name though

KenDoddsDadsDog Mon 17-Dec-12 07:05:55

Bloody brilliant!!!

gnatgnu Mon 17-Dec-12 07:21:50

confuddled was it Chocky??

Just read this out to dh. We are so excited. I so, so so loved Press Gang. He loved Knightmare which I don't seem to remember. He is younger than me though.

Jingleallthejay Mon 17-Dec-12 09:27:52

oooo <claps like a seal > I will be watching

were off to button moon <sings>

Jingleallthejay Mon 17-Dec-12 09:29:32

Just reading through some of the programmes my 19 year old watched <claps like a seal again> grin

I've got Worst Witch on DVD <smug>

Have bought Fraggle Rock for me DS for Christmas grin

Someone needs to create a dedicated TV channel for 80's kids TV!

confuddledDOTcom Mon 17-Dec-12 13:05:07

Just watched the pilot to Chocky, seems I've always been a sci-fi fan, I was only 3 when it came out! Must ask my husband if he watched it, he'd have been a little older (cradle snatcher that he is) so may have.

GothAnneGeddes Mon 17-Dec-12 13:24:09

That episode of Dramarama - Back to Front, scared the crap out of me when I was younger. A boy gets trapped in a mirror and it is so, so creepy.

It is a real shame what's happened to children's TV in this country. There used to be a great deal of investment in it, now aside from the BBC, no one else bothers.

Squeeeeeee i'm gonna have to set record for the whole lot. Then firce dd1 who is 4 to watch it all over and over.

Jingleallthejay Mon 17-Dec-12 13:29:10

That episode of Dramarama - Back to Front, scared the crap out of me when I was younger. A boy gets trapped in a mirror and it is so, so creep

Oh yes I remember <shudder>

I don't remember Dramarama, I remember some of the episodes of Round the Twist being a bit creepy though

RedTinsel Mon 17-Dec-12 13:36:28

Press gang! I'd watch back to back episodes all day long. It was utterly brilliant.

Jingleallthejay Mon 17-Dec-12 13:37:45

Im a bit old for round the twist I think my sister watched it infact i was 16 when that episode of drama rama was on so probably too old to watch that too blush
