1/4 - Resurrection

Now that Patrick Stewart has resigned his commission in Starfleet, he can set a course back to British telly. So it is that in this run of science-themed thrillers he plays Professor Ian Hood, a government boffin whose job is to avert scientific disasters. Illegal cloning is Hood's beat tonight: a poor single mum is renting out her womb to a ring of rogue doctors. It's a murky tale of moral squalor with some really unpleasant moments, including a grisly shower scene and a nasty bit of business involving a pair of scissors. Luckily, Hood's Special Branch minder is played by Ashley Jensen from Extras. She brings a welcome dash of humour amid all the grimness.
