I am actually quite insulted - there is no way that those people are not in it, there is no way they can be that stupid! Please tell me I am wrong and that there is still some hope for humankind.. I mean, jumping off a bridge, space shuttle - same same...

Haven't watched the programme itself but will be tuning into E4 for the companion prog that goes with the series so that I can drool over the impossibly beautiful Alex Zane.

and they were careful to exclude anyone with any understanding of space. or even half a brain.

They are stupid, but crucially, they are stupid and egotistical.
They attended endless auditions without even knowing what the programme was about. Being on TV is not the be all and end all. Perhaps this programme will signal the beginning of the end of reality tv as we are now seeing just how sad people are..... or maybe not!

Reminds me of that slot on The Word - "I'd do anything to get on TV"

wow, they are so daft. gobby and silly just the people you'd choose for a space trip. and yousaid, so egotistical!

Not seen it. concept sounds cruel, pointless and nasty. Bit like Little Britain really. Have a good laugh at someone else's expense and cheap telly too.

roisin- i am laughing too
but is it really possible that the contestants are so thick? did noone look out the window of the plane? and are they all so desperate to be on TV/be a cleb/be famous that they will beleive/do anything?
A bit of a contrast with the 'I killed john lennon' documentary after, in which Mark Chapman( he who shot John Lennon)was shown to be someone who SO wanted to be famous that it drove him to do something that would never let people forget him.( He had Narcissictic Personality Disorder)
Is this where these lot are heading?

The bits that made me laugh were the prop buyers- changing the plugs to Russian plugs and thrwing authentic russian litter about.ah dear! sigh

I can't beleive they can believe in it..

it reminds me of those double bluff ant and ddec things on a bigger scale..it's embarrassing to suss it out so you go along with it

the star base is too newly painted and big brother ish to be real

and the ridiculous posters

and ...the Russians are like something out of a comic..how insulting not even to have actual russian speakers

is the joke to make it as thin as possible to take it to the age of finding out?

I think it is fascinating. Susceptable people will generally see what they are expecting to see. They are all so desperate to win that little niggles about authenticity will probably be ignored!

sorrelsleighbells · 09/12/2005 10:46

aparently they were all tested to see if they have suggestable personalities.and this makes them more inclined to believe.I suppose that combined with youth is the key to being a sucker. its like santa syndrome- you will believe if it suits you to believe.... and there is a financial reward at the end i think.

one of dd's friends was in that derren brown seance and she was suckered and she is bright and intelligent, studying history at kings college but she is young..so maybe you're right

I did the Darren Brown seance with the Ouiji board and I was totally suckered too. I had shivers becasue it was the first time the glass had moved 'seriously' for me so I totally believe the mind is soooo powerful. I'm still convinced I didn't move that bloody glass!

The eyeballs test was very telling.
