Off-licences and newsagents often have the forms.

here

If you are looking for a proof of age then Citizen Card is the thing.

No its for anyone. My DSs had them when under 16 to ensure they could get child fares and now the oldest is 18 he has one to prove he is able to be served in the pub.

We got DD2 a citezens card but she found out a lot of places still won't except it. She now uses her pasport as does her older sister, DD3 was 18 in January and we are tinking of geting her a provisional drivers licence as that is excepted everywhere.

My older son is 19 and just uses his NUS card. Assuming your son is at school or college this is the best thing and you get good discounts on things too. He also has a provisional driving license just for ID purposes - has never had a lesson.

You can use a NUS card to get student discounts but it's not excepted as ID in Clubs and Pubs, DD2 did try that.

DS (also 18 next week!) tells me that there are so many fake ID's around, lots of places are only accepting driving licences or passports.

I had to get DS1 a provisional driving licence even though he is not taking lessons. I was really nervous every time he went out with his passport in case he lost it or it got damaged. Most places will only accept these now. He used to have fake ID but he had it for so long that now it showed him to be about 23!

Prov driving licence costs about £50.

You have to very careful about ID cards a lot of them are useless. My family own a security firm and have the doors of most clubs/pubs in my area. The only forms of ID that can be guaranteed are passports and driving licenses. It used to be any form of ID with the pass hologram also but these are apparently easy to forge {hmm]
