Hi all

Thought I would see if anyone had any advice to keep me sane. Eleven yr old daughter hit puberty a few months ago so have been making allowances but at a loss! Won't sleep till about 3am, moody and angry, refuses all offers of help with school work and organisation and now refusing to eat 99% of food unless full of sugar, to the extent that I stopped buying junk only to have her start taking sugar out of the bag by the spoonful. More than slightly over-sensitive too, didn't leave her room xmas day and suddenly hates her little brother who is frankly baffled. As am I. Could this all be PMT? It seems to be constant although she has had 6 heavy cycles since september. GP said it would settle but can't help thinking all linked? Thought I had a couple more years before this kicked in!

Poor old both of you! You could be describing my almost 15 y/o dd - 11 is early to be like this, but it does happen.

As I posted on another topic just now, our GP gave my dd Tranexamic Acid for heavy, painful periods and she feels it has helped dramatically. She takes it for the first 4 days of each period.

I have also given her Evening Primrose Oil and try to make sure that she takes it every day, not just during a period (although we often forget at weekends so she probably takes it, on average, 5 days out of 7). This has also helped hugely, so would recommend that you give it a go. Try talking to her about it as well. She may well be as horrified as you at the changes she is encountering and could actually be quite frightened by it. Every so often, my dd still needs the pep talk - helps for a while then we slip back again!

All the above have helped us but there is no magic bullet - my dd can still be a self-obsessed, obnoxious little cow when she feels like it - that's teenagers for you!

Hi thanks so much for this - sound advice. I think I need to wheel her past the GP for a once over. Have loads of Evening Primrose (not that I myself am a moody mare at the time of the month!!) so I will start her on it first thing in the morning, - fingers crossed, best wishes
