15 year old wants to camp at the beach?

My 15 year old son wants to camp with some of his mates (girls and boys) at the beach. I don't loke the thought of it as:-
you don't know who is hanging around there and some of them may end up drinking. When I said no I was informed I was so strict. He is a good lad and have been made to feel guilty but I hate the thought of him camping there.

I told him they could camp in our back garden but he doesn't want that after all he is nearly 16 (so I keep being told).

Do you think I am too strict or would other mother's react the same as me?

Mine did it after his GCSEs when he was still only 15yrs. I would want it to be a properly regulated camp site with rules about noise etc at night.

I only allowed it because:

  1. I knew the friends.
  2. One boy had organised it very well with his mother and I had a long chat with the mother.
  3. The camp site had a website and it was clear that it was well run and had rules.

I wouldn't be at all keen on just camping on the beach-is it allowed?

alison my reaction would be the same as yours. Is it legal to camp on the beach? I guess it is, but alcohol + sea + night + teenagers = v.worrying.

If they drink alcohol and have the bravado of the group they could be in real physical danger.
