Teenage holidays!

OK, I'm 19 and a mate and I were talking about holidays today. Myself, my friend, and another mutual friend want to go away together. Ideally, she wants to do a cheap winter sun deal then do a summer holiday (this would be great for me because any winter break would need to fit in with uni/Christmas, so I could go on the summer trip if I couldn't sort dates with them).

Anyway, can I ask you all, have your DC's ever been away with mates, how much did it cost them, did they enjoy it, how much did you help etc etc. Oh, and did you worry? I've just spoken about it to my family, and my mum seems cool with it. She's freaking out inside isn't she? I've been abroad with school before but this will be my first ever proper holiday without family (if it goes ahead).

My DS has just been with friends after his A'levels. They got a villa cheap through friends of one of his friends. The had to pay for the flight, food and entertainment.
He had a great time-I didn't do anything to help, except give a lift to and from the station. I worried but kept it to myself! Go for it!

Make sure that each individual person is responsible for his/her own booking. Too often one, more enthusiastic person gets everyone excited, and they say "Yes, I'll go!" so the first person counts heads, books a holiday for X number, and finds him/herself liable for deposits and so on when folk slowly drop out.
