Disappointing AS results - what DO you do with unmotivated uninterested teens? But at least he was shocked and upset rather than thinking they were OK.

If you find out eyesfront, please let me know! Seriously though, sorry to hear about your DS's results, it's so frustrating isn't it?

DS1 (17) started 4 AS levels in Sept last year with me knowing full well he was just after another 2 years at school with his mates as he had never expressed any interest in the subjects he chose. He'd dropped one subject by the end of Oct and in March this year we were called in after numerous phone calls, letters etc to say he was wasting his time and everyone else's so we came to a mutual decision that he should leave.

He now has a place on a Sports Science diploma course starting Sept this year and has been warned that if he doesn't work his backside off on this course the consequences will be dire (haven't yet decided what they will be but he doesn't know that)

It's so annoying as he has the ability in spades but has no motivation at all.

It's a tough time. DS went for BTEC option - good choice for him as he had results July. Hard work but modular so he knew when he wasn't making the grade all through the two years and could put the work in to make the grade and pass. One of his big mates at our home today, rather than go home. Some A2 passes but two A2s at U - he's declaring himself a failure, I'm urging him to concentrate on the two A2s and hopefully with the AS passes from last year will be enough to go to clearing. I looked at clearing - complicated - or what?
