shopping - do teenagers know what a supermarket is?

Do your teenagers ever get involved with the weekly household shopping - going with you or going with list and money to supermarket? I reckon in the future everyone will shop on-line -what do you think?

Mine do given half a chance. Only problem is ds puts all the food he likes (and tons of it) into the trolley. Dd puts in deodorants, make-up, headbands, bits of this, bits of that....magazines. So a household shopping trip with them ends up as a fight to try to maintain the original reason for the trip.
Usually if one of them is coming with me, I have to give the speech of 'only if you don't try to buy all your stuff'. Sort of works.

Mine have already got their own Sainsbury's and Tesco's supermarket cards, and get their own money-off vouchers!! They regularly go (without me) and do the weekly shopping (which I obviously have to pay for) because I hate it with a vengeance. They soon figured out that it was the best way of ensuring that we actually had food in the house.

They are happy to work with a list, if I provide one, and are also more than capable of picking the fruit and veg that I want, or even picking alternatives if something isn't available. They will also remember to buy certain things that I may have forgotten to write down.

Gosh ... I've just realised that maybe mine aren't so bad. I just wish they would empty the dishwasher.

Mine sometimes come with me and have been to the local Tesco for me if I'm working.
My eldest is 19 and has been living in halls for the last 9 months. She and her friends organise shopping together and they share cokking meals. They find it cheaper to buy for 3 or 4 people rather then do it individually like they did at first.

Yes, laudaud, I thought I must be reading someone else's post when I reread it!! However, their negative points far outweigh any positive ones. The list is endless.
