Can you pack him off to bed as he is clearly too ill for TV/computers etc then just bring him soup every few hours until he is better?

Report

Huge sympathy unbearable and possibly caused by homework and relieved by having a day off school Monday

I would love to Odd, however he has to go and play football.

If he had proper flu he wouldn't be able to get out of bed. He has a blocked nose.

BUT he is well enough to shout at us all about how unfair it is we are making him play football, and how awful he feels. He is proper yelling at DH at the moment.

I have already mentioned 'commitment' and 'team spirit'. That was wrong too.

I have a 9yr old girl having a pre-teen hormonal strop screaming 'it's not fair' here this morning.
Want to swap for a bit of variety?!

At some point they'll learn that no, it's not fair but you just have to get on with it!

Oooh what's not fair at your house Inkle?

Everything.

Her friend isn't going to dancing but she still has to go, she had to have a shower, she had to make her bed, her sister isn't feeling well so is watching CBeebies on the sofa.....you name it!

Sounds familiar. DS2 is 11 and does a lot of that.

DS1 has left the house still yelling at DH who looked like he was about to explode. Sad

DS2 should be on the stage. From an early age he could appear worryingly ill until the threat of school receded and I would realise to my shame that he had pulled the wool over my eyes again.
I did get wise eventually and pointed out that I have to go to work with a cold. A cold is horrible and makes you miserable but the world cannot stop for a cold.
DS1 on the other hand, had swine flu a couple of years ago and wanted to crawl in to school even though he could barely stand up.

We have been 'discussing' DH getting a vasectomy & he keeps asking why I'm against it....

sparkling. Is your DS still 'poorly'? I always dish out Lem Sip MAx Strength Capsules and a tissue with Olbas Oil on it and tell mine to get on with it.
Hope you get him back to school tomorrow.

When they realise school is definitely on the agenda they perk up. Dp has that man ill face that I just ignore and a packet of nurofen sticking out of his pocket like a dental talisman
