It's SO quiet without him!

I am feeling so guilty and like such a horrible mum, but DS1 (nearly 13 so hopefully qualifies for this board!) has been away since Sunday and I can't believe how quiet things are without him. Although he's a really nice boy most of the time, recently he is obviously on the cusp of the whole teenage/moody/stroppy thing and we have had a few arguments. I am finding it so much easier to be a parent of two young children who generally just do what they are told. The house is quiet by 8pm at the latest, and the two little ones are playing really nicely together without a big brother to take DD's side whenever she feels hard done by. I love DS1 dearly and I really miss him as a person, but as DH is working crazy hours at the moment it is really nice to be, in effect, a single parent of two rather than a single parent of three for the week. Does this make me a complete cow?

Gosh, even by my standards that's a pretty crap response rate! Cheers sugarfree, I am really looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.

sunnydelight - I've just posted on another teen thread about something similar.

I was looking forward to seeing my dds after their first ever foreign holiday alone. I now think I've decided to start saving madly to pay for them to go away again as soon as possible.

completely get where your coming from. my ds (16) is always proving he is bigger stronger better than weedy weakling of a kid ds2. really theres nothing to prove - ds2 is a weed. leave him alone.

now he is at his girfriends all the time. its bliss - i see him everynight at 10pm we chat for 20 mins. the twins are in bed. no fighting - of course i miss him. but i also like it without him - and have on occasion forgotten to pick him up!!!

Mine are both at uni in September ... we'll have no money but, oh joy, we will be sooooo happy! (Yes, I love my children, but they can do your head in).

My ds2, 14 has been away whis week. I've missed him - it's been soooo quiet, but also much less stressful. He'll be back tonight and then we have the joys of 2 weeks work experience - so he'll be miserable as sin after early mornings and longer days. Bless!
