Oh WHEN will I stop getting stressed because my teen is late for college?!

She was late almost daily for 2 years at school and two weeks into college and she has been late twice, today is the third time.

I know I need to chill and let her face the consequences but if the consequences mean she fails her A levels and doesn't go to Uni in 2 years, I may not be responsible for my actions Grin

My DS (13) has just been put on report (his 9th), for lateness. Strewth! There is NOTHING you can do. They make their own choices.

Rob Parsons- an author once put it, ''Don't read the scores at half-time'' meaning she still has time in her life to study. DYKWIM?

Each morning my 14 year old son gets out of bed at 6.45 (reluctantly but on time), slumps over his breakfast, shoves a few things in his bag, just about makes it to the front door in time to make it to his train then says 'oh, I just need to get something from upstairs' and DISAPPEARS for ages. By the time he gets downstairs again he is too late to make it to the train, I am almost exploding with anger, my husband is yelling at me to let him take the consequences of being late then I have to watch him walk up the road at the speed of a snail (and I don't exaggerate). AAAAGH it drives me demented!

Ans = you won't.
Now one of mine is off to uni, and I just have to hope they get themselves to lectures on time, after two A level years of last-minute-ism and lateness.

I used to stress about DD2 getting out on timew for college and used to knock on her door to get her up. I learnt in the second year of college just to let her get on with it although I still worried. She finished college with 2 A's and a C in her A levels. She is now just about to start her second year at uni. She still leaves getting up until the last minute ( not a morning person).
But she pased her first year at uni.
DD3 is 18 and I stil worry about her getting up late but she always seems to get out and catch the bus on time. She's dyspraxic and our youngest so I seem to wory about her a bit more but she is much beter at getting out then her sister was.

Ah thank you all, you made me both laugh and feel relieved its Not Just Me!

I am very much a morning person, which definitely does NOT help! I am normally quite chilled but this tardiness really gets to me for some reason!
