One teen already, one to follow shortly - now I know why my mother used to say "you wait till there're teens"

It's a whole new ball game.

Oh yes very lovely (most of the time)

no point in thinking otherwise, or else you'd loose faith in things to come

wottknott

people post when they are having probs

Assuming what teenagers are like from thread titles in Teenagers is like getting research about being married from relatioonships

DS1 is 17 - lovely - gorgeous boy. Ds2 13 ditto

I love teenagers. Much maligned but rarely desrved

Confused @ go to bet - bed?

Yes finding the wine thing already rather frustrating at weekends. And the clothes are so expensive. You just simply can't choose them without approval or it's a complete wast of time and money.

I have actually posted on another thread too. Now feel a true member of the teen section.

Maryz, we've stopped being a taxi service now if we want a drink. DS calls a taxi and we keep a taxi fund in the house.

It's a tenner a time, but we're finding he's out at parties most weekends now and I do love a bottle of wine on a Saturday night.

Teens are fab, despite the bad press from everywhere including some very odd posters here.
Would not enjoy returning to the early years at all, far too exhausting

Mine either have a walking train to get home, dropping various friends off on the way until only one male built like a bear is left or they take sleeping bags.

Better than toddlers.

All that trotting around after them and being bent double. All that worrying about bumps and bangs and trying to work out what they want so very badly.
No more tweenie yelling about why they have to have something.
Now I just say 'Want a calculator to work out wage x weeks divided into cost of item?'

pointydog · 14/09/2010 20:38

And all this 'you just wait' malarkey. What nonsense. Teens are much mor e fun and easier to ignore.

I love my teens, and currently feeling rather maudlin that dd2, just turned 19 is off to pastures new soon and all her wondrous friends too.

She had birthday party here for about 12 at the weekend and her friend mixed me a rather excellent G&T( she'd brought the gin) and they all loved the curry I made for them. When I came down in the morning the kitchen was spotless and I got lots of hugs and thank yous from them all as the said goodbye.

It was the same with DD1(21) and her mates and I still miss the life they brought into the home too.

My 2 younger ones 12 and 13 and have yet to develop much of a social life, but so far no extremes of bad behaviour either.

As Pagwatch said people post here in times of crisis.

IME my teens have needed a lot of listening time and advise/guidance about emotions, school stress and relationships but so far I have not had any anti social stuff like drugs, drinking ,unsuitable friendships, or dangerous behaviour to deal with.

Obviously we do get mood swings but I think that goes with the territory and I do 'joke' that somtimes my DS is all 7 dwarves rolled into one:happy, grumpy, hungry, dopey, sleepy etc but i never know which one will roll in from school Wink

I love ds just started in year 10, he is still cuddly and good tempered, however I think gcse homework is going to cause all the teenager angst to flare up and I suspect I shall be wondering what the hell happened.

Am finding my teen (nearly 14) far easier than she was at any earlier stage of her life: mature, reasonable, usually sleeps at night, doesn't bite, kick or punch, you can have a good adult conversation and she is capable of appreciating longterm benefits of good behaviour. I feel like I've sat down for the first time in 14 years. The only problem is, I'm getting so lazy...

My 2 are coming up to the teen years with all the hormonal stroppiness and eating everything they can get their hands on in the kitchen during growing phases!

Had 3 boys round to learn for a test yesterday and they gulped down a litre and a half of juice and a double batch of chocolate chip cookies that I'd just made then as one was leaving at 6pm I heard him saying 'I'm starving'!
