Parents of toddlers are always regaling us with funny stories of what they have said, but I find teens even funnier.

Just now I was asking ds1 which English GCSE texts he is studying. I asked if Jane Austen is on the list. Ds1 said "How am I supposed to know which books are hers?" So I listed the 6 novels and said "That is all she wrote". Ds1 instantly came back dismissively with "And now she's a corpse". It took me so much by surprise and was said so damningly, it really made me laugh.

What things have your teens said recently which have amused you?

Grin That's a good one Herbietea. My ds1 is 14. I have to admit that almost everything he says either has me seething or laughing out loud. There are no half measures with teenagers are there?

I went to have a start of term meeting with my DS2`s teacher this week. The teacher said that he had a funny excuse for being late for registration that had stuck in his mind , apparently DS2 said "my porridge was too hot". The teacher said he smiled inside at that one.

One of my best friends has a daughter who is a good friend of my DD (14). They went to Cyprus on holiday this summer. I said to my friend, "send us a postcard, won't you, so I can prove we have friends in exciting places". DD chipped in, "or even just that we have friends." Wink

She is so quick with her retorts, she has me doubled up with laughter so much of the time. I love having a teen around, it reminds me of all the fun I had at that age.Grin
