Will we ever be able to put them in together?

We have 2 beautiful, friendly female bunny rabbits, aged about 5 1/2 months and 7 1/2 months. We got the older rabbit first and got her a friend about 2 weeks later. They both live indoors but in separate cages, although they are right next to each other.

The older rabbit was spayed about 3 weeks ago (we tried to get this done earlier as she was being very dominating towards the younger rabbit but the vet said she wasn't heavy enough). The older rabbit had definitely started being less dominating and aggressive towards the younger rabbit and kept attempting to groom her when they played out. However now the younger rabbit has started jumping onto the older rabbits back, bites her ears and just generally winds her up until it ends with both bunnies being grumpy and chasing and growling at each other (they don't fight though).

I was hoping that we would be able to put them in the same cage some day (although they are out most of the day together unless we have to split them up) but this isn't going to happen is it?

All bunnies go through this when bonding only worry when injuries occur. One of mine takes to dry humping the faces of new ones we take on Hmm as his way of showing his dominance

Yes, you will be able to, but it takes time and a bit of knowledge. I have socialised 3 separate pairs over the years. The house rabbit forum has some good suggeations (stunt double and swapping hutches daily were both very effective for us)

Pm me if you need more info than you can get from a quick google.
