Rabbits and builders next door

A big sigh and harrumph here.

We have been deliberating over getting rabbits for years. We have decided to do it , bought a large cage and run and put them up in the garden. Told our DD (4) we will be getting rabbits in the summer before she finishes at preschool. The thinking behind the timing was to help her with the transition to school.

Today we have found out our next door neighbours are going to build a small extension and the building work will last for 6-8 weeks.

How will the rabbits react to the building work? Should we postpone? When we have promised the rabbits we have prepared for and thought about for years?

I don't understand the problem

They won't worry unduly about it. I have an indoor bun and 2 GPs and they were not at all bothered by workmen in the house doing a new kitchen and central heating system. They'll get used to any noise.

Enjoy your buns.

We had MASSIVE building works (think 3 RSJs all walls in downstairs knocked down) about 6 metres from bunnies cage. Your worry didn't even occur to me. I feel abit guilty now! Also I mow the lawn with them there. They seem to be ok

They will be ok, but I would make sure they have plenty of good hiding places so they feel secure. One of my pairs wouldn't care less about this, the other pair get nervous and hide at the slightest sound.

Current Bun would be pleading biscuits over the fence.
