What do you do with your rabbits when the weather is rubbish?

Ours are so bored Sad

and even on good days, I'm very pregnant and can no longer carry them to and from the big pen we have, as it has stupid gates that you have to crawl through, while holding a rabbit. And I have SPD and it isn't working.

They have a 6ftx2ft hutch but it is not enough, they are really really bored and need to be hopping around, but I've no idea what to do with them.

We do have a walk in chicken run, again though it has a small gate you have to bend down to get through, so we normally don't bother, we just access the hens through the shed entrance for feeding and watering.

Please if anyone has any good ideas, would you be kind enough to share? I thought of converting the wooden playhouse for them to run about/live in, it's only about 4x5 so not very big, but maybe better than nothing?

I feel so sorry for them, they're big chaps now and need some space.

I meant to say, we used to keep our females in with the chickens but they eventually burrowed out, and a fox got two of them.

I don't think the males would dig out - so might put them in there if I can't think of anything else - but then you've got to get a hutch in there for them, too, and make sure the chickens can't get a the hay (one died from eating hay, last time) and it is so complicated.

This won't improve the weather! but will let your rabbits get to and from their run without you needing to carry them.

Our rabbits have a open hutch in half of the shed which is linked to their run by a cat flap. The run is 6ft by 12 ft and has a tarpaulin over half of it so they play out even if its raining.

Thankyou very much, that system looks really good Smile

Did you build your own run? I have searched and searched online and not found anything that big.

also, sorry for the questions but what is under it? I'm worried about building one on the grass as it might wear down in that place iyswim, and get very muddy in the winter.

Yes we built out own run, with fence panels and fox proof wire from B and Q. Its on paving slabs with a small patch of grass and a trough full of earth that the rabbits like to dig in. It had some tunnels and logs in to play on. They get to run around the garden as well if we are home so do most of their grass eating then.
You are right it would be a mud bath if it was on grass!!
