So are my GPs trying to tell me something?

DGPs have been here a fortnight now and are coming out of their shells.

Their latest party trick is to poo in their food bowls. Lots of poo. Is this indicative of a problem?

Pellet food is changed daily (v strict a out this) and not too much given as they aren't too fussed about it. Veggies given once a day as a rule but also whenever they charm some out of me.

Congrats on your piggies becoming more gregarious now!

Pooping in the food dish isn't unusual. I had one pig who was quite adept at using it for both number 1s and 2s, which was pretty comical, but not very nice. It won't really harm them though, as being copraphages, they actually eat some of their poo for the extra nutrients.

Big pig poo's in his food bowl, Little Pig poos in his water bowl Hmm

They eat poo so its not really a problem. :)

They all do it, baby guineas sit in the food bowl to eat as well (very cute, but as you say it's a bit unhygienic).

When I had GPs years back the 2nd litter was 3 piglets. When they all tried to fit in the bowl, with mum trying to fit her nose in, it was funny, but she told them off . Next thing you'd see was 3 piglets primly sat at the edge.

I give my GPs shallow dog bowls (most rodent dishes are small and flimsy)

They are trying to tell you.... that they're guinea-pigs and that's part of their charm Grin

They sound like they're settling well.
