Buzzard alert

When I was cleaning the piggery on Saturday my dad noticed three buzzards circling above the pens

All but one has a lid on so put a rug over just in case

The thought of it chills me to the bone

Just a cautionary tale

Shock

I've seen birds art the side of the motorway.Sometimes sitting on fenceposts, sometimes hovering over fields. Presumably looking for rabbits, mice, voles. So quite happy to take a guinea-pig Sad

We have herons round our way (lots of neighbours have fishponds) and magpies that have taken a shine (in an "I'd like to eat you sort of way) to my little fluffy black pig.
That's without the cats and foxes to contend with .

Posts like these make me happy my boys are indoors.

So many things out there, foxes/cats/buzzards/magpies....

Gah! i would be in a panic!

Mine are indoors but come out for exercise but I now cover all the pens so they are safe

Won't leave them unsupervised though but my Shih tzu sees off any predators

I've never let these GPs free range though the pigs I had when I was a child did. (if anything came near, they hurtled towards their cages-we left one door open)

We have a heavy, metal rabbit run, so if anything did sit on the cage, it is too high for them to reach and the bars are too narrow. They have a solid wooden box to hide in.

Last august when it was going to be a really hot day I put the piggies in their run in the morning (plenty of shade and places to hide) and I went merrily off to work....

On my way home I had this awful feeling that I hadn't shut the top on the run....

Returned Home to find the top up! I run through the house expecting the worst but all was well. I shut the lid and poured myself a tea (read vodka :-) ) and within 10 minutes of me shutting the lid no fewer than 3 cats came into the garden for a nose...

There were 2 adult foxes outside last night about 7.15pm. The hogs were in their outdoor run enjoying some late evening troughing.

DH and DS heard the noise and brought the boys in (the foxes weren't near the GPs)

I think the blighters are mating at the moment, cubs are usually October time.

All mne were our yesterday. Have 9 pens all over lawn ( saves on mowing) and I cleaned them out whilst keeping eye in the sky for the buzzards...
