Advice on aftercare for a rabbit please?

Hi there,
My five month old Dutch X house bunny is going in to be neutered on Monday, does anyone have any aftercare advice.

Is it just a case of covering his cage ( it's in a quiet corner anyway) and leaving him to relax for a bit?

Any tips would be great. Thanks x

Hello!
Your vet or vet nurse should run through the post op care with upon you collecting your rabbit.
At the vets where I work I'd advise bringing them in for a couple of days so they can be closely monitored. Rabbits are quite good at going down hill fast an the simplest of symptoms can be easily dismissed as just 'recovery'. Keep an eye on his poo, it should only ever look like raisins, if you notice sticky kidney bean shaped poo, take him to the vets. Likewise if he stops eating, rabbits HAVE to constantly eat.
I'm not trying to scare you but I've been a bunny owner myself and have nearly lost one after his castrate but a long as you are vigilant you'll be fine and so will he!
Good luck xxx

As the other poster said, most ops go fine, but with a rabbit you cant be too paranoid - keep a close eye on him - probably indoors the night after the op is best, and any sign of anything wrong at all, get on the phone to your vet
