Ok - so am feeling a bit guilty.

Beyonce has been running around all summer looking lovely at front end but smelling a bit pongy at back end. Now on closer examination have discovered hideous big tangles in her coat around her rump - which are the source of the pong. Have cut out some of the worst bits but would welcome some tips about how to deal with it.

Understandably she is not keen on having her hair cut and the look is not good. But would rather her look inelegant than have smelly coat.

Beyonce, what a great name Grin. Think you've got to bite the bullet and give her a bath. Gorgeous Guinea range is favoured by alot of people but I used Johnsons baby bath because I'm cheap. Brush her regularly as she sounds like a long haired guinea.

I don't think sows have grease glands at their tail stump (if they do I've not noticed it on mine). I'm told swaffeager (sp?) is the best thing to use. I've dabbed abit of fairy liquid to loosen up the grease and washed it off. Old Boy has never got that greasy though.

Yup, sound like bath time Grin

Once she is clean, a regular brush, check over, swipe with a wipe etc.

When I was 20ish I had a Peruvian GP (didn't know she was a Peruvian when I bought her).
Her long hair used to get a bit manky so I kept it trimmed to floor level. It took daily combing but still got a bit bleurgh round her bum.

I'd cut her hair for summer, wash her (Gorgeous Guineas do a conditioning shampoo), comb and keep it short round her bum.
Comfort is more important than looks.

I've always thought Peruvians look a bit pampered and precious. I never showed my pig so her furcut wasn't really an issue. Wink

I have a long haired hammy.

I chop it off round his bum coz it gets matted. It looks tufty and daft Grin
I love my little scruff!

Who cares what they look like as long as they are clean and comfortable! :)
