what age to guinea pigs leave their breeders?

We have two babies picked them up a week ago as breeder said that was when they could leave, didn't even think to ask what age that made them?

Hi there. It might be worth giving the breeder a bell, just to find out how old they are (and know when to celebrate their birthdays!)

Boars are usually separated from their mums from about 3 weeks as they can become sexually mature and impregnate either the mother or their sisters. I've never had a pig from a breeder, but one of mine was born in a rescue and because I'd already had quite a few pigs and "knew the ropes," she let me have him at 3 weeks. Most of the time though, breeders would generally wait until they are a few weeks more than that, just to make sure they are fully weaned, putting on weight and doing okay on their own.

My breeder was happy to let them go at 5 weeks, however boys were separated from mum and sisters at 3 weeks.

Best thing to do is phone your breeder and ask them. :)
