Would keeping a single boy and 2 girls in the same room be ok?

I mean in seperate cages.. will the poor boy be driven mad by the smells?

Do you mean rabbits/rats/mice/GPs?

I had male and female GPs as a child (accidental male, we were sold a girl) so we ended up with piglets.

He was in another room and was frequently trying to escape back to the others.

If I kept a female near my boars I think it would be WW3.

More likely the girls would be driven mad by the male.Especially in season.
Is it possible to have him snipped?

GPs.

We have one boy that currently lives in our dining room and DD would like some more. We want to get girls and then in the summer, when the girls are older and they can be outside, have babies then have the boy snipped and have a harem of him and the girls. We have plenty of prospective homes for the boys and any girls if there is to many!

DD wants the girls in her room but I thought they would be better downstairs to get used to family life and the noise the fridge makes! also it means they dont have to be carried downstairs for loves. ( and I get to munch them when the kids are inbed Grin

I dont want to torment our boy though, that would be cruel so if they can smell each other maybe we need to rethink gp sleeping quarters.

hmm

Why not have the boy snipped before the girlies get there.

Then if you have the three of them, that's a nice group.

The thought of baby guinnies makes me Confused, that's why we went for 2 boars. One of our males is very territorial, they have the odd squabble. I reckon he'd make his brothers life hell if we had a female.(Ours are a year old, so sexually mature)
I've had a mistake boar and a female already pg in the past so taking no chances.

And my DS slept in the dining room at Christmas with the GPs in their cage and said he couldn't sleep, they were so noisy , so I wouldn't have them in a bedroom. Grin

We want babies tbh..! I bred gerbils for years when I was a child for pocket money and it is a great experience, we will all enjoy it and we have lots of prospective gp parents in friends and family.. we will only do it once though and not for money, just for the experience.

We had 2 boys ( I got them from BabyDubs on here after her friend wanted rid) But one had to go and live with friends as he was a thug and rory was terribly bullied and shressed so we need girls.

One GP just isn't enough. I feel sorry for Rory being on his own :(

how old is rory.
would he take to new friends on the scene.

some of the gps i had as a child were happier when they were alone and one of our mum/daughter groups hated the new gp when she came along with her secret pregnancy and brought another daughter Grin

can only type with one hand as i'm cuddling gp2 and he's very fidgity.

I've just read through some old threads (ancient cogs in brain whirring)
Was Rory the GP in the cupboard who was bullied by his 'room-mate'.

My original GP (the one we were sold as a girl, but when we got a girl companion for her, we found out 'he' was a 'she') was systematically bullied by his mate.
She was a Himalayan (white, brown feet and ears and pink eyes)
If he went to the food, she would push him out of the way. She got first dibs on the cup of tea dregs.
She attacked him and he fled, crashed into the wall and got near concussed.
After that he had alot of health problems, including stress excema that the vet said was likely due to this.

He would (in retrospect) have been better alone. He was a lovely little chap, lived in the front room and used a litter tray.
He didn't live much beyoond 2 yo Sad

Rory is lovely and TheDoctor was just a bully. We could see R just wanted acceptance and but just kept getting attacked and was much smaller the this cagemate and had toes missing and shredded ears :( I dont think R is happy on his own but The Dr most certainly would have been. R is normal GP sized now he can eat without being attacked!

At a guess R is 3 now. He's proper lush :)
