Basically I have rung the RSPCA over my neighbours rabbit - it is outside in a run (no sleeping compartment just an open mesh wire run) all day and all night with no bedding and no protection from the elements. I have hung off and kept thinking - they will take it in soon surely but they havent. The RSPCA have taken it quite seriously and have said they are sending someone round. I feel bad but I didnt know what else to do and I could not bear to think of it suffering.

Good for you. At least they can check it out.

Good for you. I have neighbours that have one rabbit in a really small hutch and I don't think they ever let it out - there is no sign of any run.

I am not 100% sure though otherwise I'd report.

Absolutely the right thing to do.

The RSPCA lists all the things an animal needs, can't remember all of them but
food
shelter
freedom to express their natural instincts (which would be burrowing, hiding none of which they can do in a wire pen)
companionship- is the rabbit a lone rabbit?
protection from disease and illness- he sounds like an illness waiting to happen
and I would add protection from predators

I've never had rabbits, but I do have 2 spoilt guinea-pigs. I know that animal needs are different, but your neighbours rabbits life sounds grim

A lone rabbit :( - I kept thinking that if it had another one in there at least it could snuggle up for warmth!!

Even if they just put a cardboard box in there so it could hide somewhere. It has honestly been keeping me awake at night.

Rabbits can be very neglected!

Have the RSPCA been in touch?

It's tipping down here and my GPs are indoors. Sad for bunny if it's outside.

And I know people say that wild rabbits live out (wild GPs live out in Darkest Peru) but as mankind has domesticated animals they lose their natural survival instincts.
