this type of top is my absolute wardrobe staple as i have phobia of exposing my horrible arms and chest, plus i live in scotland so it's freezing all the time! So i almost always layer and wear long sleeved tops under little t-shirts, dresses etc.used to get them from m&s,nice smooth fabric, v thin but in a nice way, they have discontinued them now, and the ones i have are almost washed away to nothing! Anyone any recommendations? Been looking with no success!

I have long sleeved tops from Primark that I like - they're quite long in the body which I find good. Don't know if they have them at the moment though.

I am wearing this right now and it would work for layering (apart from maybe the shoulder buttons?) because it's quite stretchy and fitted, and the fabric's pretty light but not flimsy.

that is a really nice top! too nice to layer and hide imo! I am more after a long sleeved vest i think, plain and stretchy. You know some coffee chains make their staff wear all black,i want their tops!

Next does brilliant ones, called "Seconda Pelle" which are really fine, with lycra, in all sorts of colours. In fact, I'm wearing a white one now and it kept me cosy all day standing on the touchline in the drizzle watching DS kicking a ball about. Unfortunately I think they only do short-sleeved ones at this time of year, but worth knowing for next autumn.

uniqlo are fabulous. They do have fine cotton tops now but have a look again in autumn - they make these really great thermal tops which are brilliant - very fine jersey knit in loads of colours

i think the primark ones are best, i wear them under work dresses, and they are about 3 quid

I got some in H & M in the winter - so fine you can just about see your bra through them so definitely best for layering!
