Style and beauty

So do I just give up on "nude on nude" then?

New Look (yes, NL) have lots and lots of sooooo pretty nude-tone tops and I do believe I've tried them all and every one makes me look ghastly. I need strong colours I think.

I have dark hair and blue eyes and I'm 45. I think I need to be young and blonde and willowy. All graceful and jumpy-uppy like a ballerina.

But I'm just not (sigh)

yes, that's it exactly.

And I keep trying them on hoping that one might suit. it's pathetic really.

ach I know that us 40-somethings need to keep a wether eye on fashion but I've come to the conclusion that puffball hemlines, super skinny jeans and stilletto gladiators are just not me

I am actually-truly-really wearing an a-line linen skirt

Su - you are right! Emerald Green, Fuschia Pink, Purple, white and cream suit me

I don't think nude really works unless you have v sallow complexion or are v pale porcelainy type - i.e. if it's not really nude for you because you are a dramatically different colour from it.

I would love to be graceful and jumpy-uppy like a ballerina too...

any pale shades are sharp ice ones not soft muted ( htinking of my rl mate who is winter)
also a strange forest green - hard to find

Ooh Su can you do on-the-spot colour consult? I know it's not my thread but what do they say for the dull combo of mid brown hair, blue eyes, not fair skin, some would inaccurately say sallow ... ?

and Su - who does black suit ?

SuSylvester · 08/05/2010 16:09

onyl winters
hmm cant really
one trick is to look at what metal suits you
silver = winter and summer
gold - spring and autumn

its SO worth either getting mats to be blunt or getting it done despite thinking it will be crap andbeing cross at what you are given

Jamieandhismagictorch · 08/05/2010 16:11

I got it done informally by a mates mum. It is really helpful Has topped me making lots of mistakes

Hmm I always wear silver but that reflects cheapness of silver rather than its perfection against my skin.

Is it like those food allergy tests, they hold up a cerise scarf behind you and if you get weak arms you are a winter, etc.

SuSylvester · 08/05/2010 16:14

The thing about this tho is I know what colours suit me and I know all these bollocking nude tones don't but I want them to.

What you gonna do about that then Mrs ColourMeBeautiful?
