Chanel Vitalumiere, Laura Mercier or a Mac foundation...?

Your opinions please?

Not looking for scary-mask-face coverage, just something that will make me look more 'dewy' than 'ageing and tired'!!

Going to use it with Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick (Rose(?), I think) and would just like to hear some other peoples opinions on these foundations.

I have quite dry skin so am looking for something nourishing as well as 'glowing'!

Thanks

Well I have dry skin and love vitalumiere and have tried all 3 you mention. LM is good too but mac dreadful on dry skin.

LM very good- got my 2nd bottle of Vital but it just didn't feel the same as the previous one.
I use the tinted moisteriser- skin glowing.(mind you have just had microdermabrasion this morning....)

I've used the Vitalumiere and I liked it. At the moment I've got Lancome Photogenic Lumessence which is the best one I've had in ages.

I have Mac mineral foundations (liquid version and the powder) and I would agree with traceybath that they are not good for dry skin.

I use Vitalumiere a lot and would go with that if your skin is dry. It really is lovely. My skin looks gorgeous with it on and I am 41. One disadvantage is that I don't think that the colour range is that great (unlike Mac)- I am somewhere between Clair and Beige so end up mixing both or using Beige with a tan.

I love Vitalumiére and have used it for years, I've got pretty dry skin too and its definitely the best out there for a natural glow. I've recently discovered BB luminous moisturising foundation which is also really good and a much wider variety of colour shades than Chanel offer but it doesn't have an added SPF in it which IMO lets it down. LM do a really good primer which I use underneath and helps too.

JoJoBooBoo have you tried Cendré in terms of colour match as thats a really good middle ground colour between Clair and Beige?!?!

I have been using LM for years - it is gorgeous and dewy. I get compliments on my complexion when I wear it!

Just recently I bought some vitalumiere after seeing recommendations on here. It is a very different texture - heavier, not as easy to apply, but has it's own merits. I think it gives more coverage so I've been using LM for everyday glowiness and VL for nights out when I want to look more 'made up'.

another vitalumiere fan here - but only with serum underneath. it is quite oily so may need to save up my boots points for the powder. i USE CENDRE - am celtic colouring, and am happy with coverage.

I've got quite oily skin in the summer, but i must have the odd dry patch hiding because when i put my foundation on since the sun has started shining it ends up patchy

Just me or is this common?

Be careful with Vitalumiere and Laura Mercier unless you have yellow toned skin. If you are pinky English rose it will make you look corpse like.

I am very very pale albeit pinky and find Lancome Photgenic Luminescence very good colour wise. Or Eclat Opulent by By Terry is also excellent tyexture wise.

Chantecaille is also v good option however it is also slightly yellowy.

AuntieMaggie, are you still moisturising well even though you are finding your skin to be more oily? Where are your patches of dry skin? The weather at the moment is a complete nightmare for skin as you get lured into changing your routine but the wind is still sneakily drying it out!

One of my favourite creams is Nivea Blue, its really good for patches of dry skin and is >IMO< a much under rated wonder cream - plus its really cheap!

Getorf - I am definitely pinky and I don't think I'm corpsey!

I had Chantecaille 'recommended' to me by a Tangoed lady in Space NK and nearly fainted at the price!

Am also def pinky and hope I don'tlook corpse like !

I think in her defence that she mean't the Make Up could make you look corpse like if you don't get the colour match correct...

To be fair, Chanel are pretty limited in terms of their colour ranges sadly, but I know plenty of people who have pale skin and wear their brand well. I think its just a case of try it and see if it works

I use LM in the day and vitalumiere when I go out but am considering a switch to vitalumiere fulltime.

I think I remember hf12345 saying that Vitalumiere is lovely mixed with a little bit of Mac Strobe cream.

on my nose and cheeks

yes still using my serum and moisturiser - my skin tends to get oily towards the end of the day I just noticed when putting my foundation on the last few weeks, even though it hasn't been particularly warm in the mornings it's sitting in the pores and clinging to every minor imperfection/dry bit!

I absolutely love the YSL Touche Éclat foundation. Comes in loads of shades and looks sheer and dewy but can be built up for extra coverage. I used to use vitalumière and am a complete convert. Worth a try - they were doing decent sized samples when it launched that they might still be doing.
